Comparative evaluation of various analgesics in reducing pain in irreversible pulpitis
Bioinformation. 2021 Feb 28;17(2):313-319. doi: 10.6026/97320630017313. eCollection 2021.ABSTRACTIt is of interest to evaluate a single dose of three different analgesics compared to placebo in patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis. 120 patients were enrolled with severe pain in this prospective clinical trial. Patients were randomly divided into four groups after shaping and cleaning of root canals. This includes placebo, piroxicam 20mg, acetaminophen 325mg with aceclofenac sodium 100mg and acetaminophen 650mg. Participants were given a questionnaire to note the pain scores at various time intervals (6 hrs, 12 h...

Colonic uptake of a64Cu-labeled immunoprotein incorporating MAdCAM correlates with the degree of colitis
Conclusions: These results suggest that uptake of 64Cu-labeled R-MAdCAM by the gut correlates with colonic density and thus has the potential to be used as a PET tracer for the evaluation of colitis. (Source: Journal of Nuclear Medicine)

Cancers, Vol. 13, Pages 2344: Photosensitizing Medications and Skin Cancer: A Comprehensive Review
unyoung Cho (1) The incidence of skin cancer is increasing in the United States (US) despite scientific advances in our understanding of skin cancer risk factors and treatments. In vitro and in vivo studies have provided evidence that suggests that certain photosensitizing medications (PSMs) increase skin cancer risk. This review summarizes current epidemiological evidence on the association between common PSMs and skin cancer. (2) A comprehensive literature search was conducted to identify meta-analyses, observational studies and clinical trials that report on skin cancer events in PSM users. The associated risks of k...

Macroporous scaffold surface modified with biological macromolecules and piroxicam-loaded gelatin nanofibers toward meniscus cartilage repair
Int J Biol Macromol. 2021 Apr 28:S0141-8130(21)00923-5. doi: 10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2021.04.151. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMeniscus cartilage has poor self-healing capacity in the inner zone and its damage leads to articular cartilage degeneration. Here we have developed hybrid constructs using polycaprolactone (PCL) and polyurethane (PU) surface modified by gelatin (G), chitosan (C), and hyaluronic acid (H) biomacromolecules and piroxicam-loaded gelatin nanofibers (PCL/PU/GCH/P). The surface of constructs was crosslinked using EDC and NHS. The scaffolds were investigated by SEM, FTIR spectroscopy, swelling test, degradati...
