VCU vs Emory vs MUSC vs UTSW vs UAB? Forensic pathology
I know I’m probably super early, I’ve still got a little less than 3 years before I do any applying. But I want to know what school is best for my goals so I can work towards their requirements. Sorry for the long list. VCU: Pros: -forensic pathology fellowship offered at medical examiners office -highly regarded in forensic science -prestigious status in research (will help with residency matching and job applications) -wonderful area -great pathology programs... Transfusion Medicine Fellowship advice
Hello colleagues I am seeking advice regarding a transfusion medicine fellowship, and I know it is a good problem to have! I currently have offers from the following NIH, Stanford, Mayo, WASHU, UMN, and pending interviews from UCSF, Versiti, and Emory With the stressful timeline, I find it very difficult to choose. Some of these programs have a very good name "Stanford", but the volume was not as high as expected. others, I did not really enjoy my interview "Mayo", but from what I... How exactly did ERAS decide the Number of Signals?
It isn't strictly because of specialty competitiveness. EM gets 7, meanwhile, FM and Peds get 5? Neurology gets 3, but pathology gets 5? Psych, despite having gotten more competitive in the last several years, only gets 5? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UPS workers now making $170,000 …
And I know some young grads who are being offered close to $200,000 for academic jobs (to do private practice level work). Even worse, limited number of jobs regionally. Then you wonder why you can’t recruit American grads into our field. Most low to mid tier programs are all foreign grads. I know some foreign grads who use Pathology to gain entrance into USA for a residency slot then jump ship to internal medicine. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Cluster B:histrionic traits
I have a relatively new client of 3 months that I inherited from a retiring psychologist. No personality pathology, PTSD, OCD, and bipolar 1 disorder. Client has had middle insomnia since November 2022 and is often sleeping 2-4 hours a night. She once fell asleep during our session. This client also stopped her risperdal cold Turkey due to excessive weight gain. She has had a sleep study, seen a sleep psychologist and has tried every sleep medication. She is now on Belsomra and her sleep is... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is path right for me + next steps?
M3 in the middle of 3rd year thinking about the future + stressed about 4th year schedule. Q1: Is Path right for me? I fell in love with path while shadowing in premed and haven't been able to shake it, despite lots of paths saying the field is going downhill. I think slides/stains are beautiful, I love diagnostics way more than therapeutics, I like the leadership component of lab management, I LOVE LOVE LOVE all my path preceptors/teachers. It's the only place I feel at home... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

NBME “Shelf” (Pre-Clinical) and NBME CBSE Exam Prep
Hey guys, I’m currently an M2 attending a Caribbean Medical School. At the end of our basic sciences program, the school administers 3 NBME Subject/”Shelf” Exams (Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology). These 3 exams determine our eligibility to take the NBME CBSCE “COMP” exam which subsequently determines our eligibility to sit the USMLE Step 1. As I understand it, not all schools administer these exams and as a result I’ve been hard pressed to find prep materials that are... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

USCAP/course show off pathologist.
Maybe I am a bit too european/Non-US. But I have attended some really great US pathology courses (USCAP). But what strikes me is some US faculty members. They a so upbeat and talk about some slides and some tumors as it was great food or sex. But 90% a great educators and the last 10% are also good but they give too much gas. I could point at Elizabeth A. Montgomery and Jered G as some. They are great pathologist but they are Duracell Bunny. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
