Pathology vs. Lab Animal Residency
Hi, I'm a 3rd-year vet student and am on the fence about pursuing a pathology or lab animal residency. Can someone who has done either please give their opinion on the application process, the program as a whole, and their experience? What were boards like? Did you go in straight after graduation or work GP for a few years? I'm considering the following programs: UGA, Emory, UC Davis, Illinois, and UF Many thanks in advance from a confused and anxious student worried about the next 1.5 year 🙃 (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Midlife crises as pathologist (M44)
I have been working as a pathologist for 15 years and feel like it's becoming assembly line work, the same routine day in and day out. Even on the home front, things have become a bit dull. It's probably a typical midlife crisis, and in this context, I don't find the pathologist life particularly uplifting. Are there any books out there that can offer perspectives and techniques? Reference text for non podiatry residents
Hi, hoping to get some insight. I have family medicine residents rotating with me for about 2 weeks in the office at a time. Their experience with foot and ankle pathology is quite limited. Do you guys have a quick reference in mind that I can give them to be better prepared for the rotation? Its mostly an office based rotation. I was thinking pocket pod but it might be a little too detailed. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Switching from Pathology to FM Advice Needed
Hello everyone, I am a former PGY-2 pathology resident (completed second year). I was discharged from the program last year due to my lack of progression within the program. I put down the time to studying and getting help, but ultimately that was not enough. I am currently still in good standing with the program director and my pathology attendings. I know I can receive good LORs from them. Since then I have been doing pro-bono consulting work in graduate consulting programs. Upon... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Need advice for 2025 Match (DO student)
Hi everyone, I'm trying to get an idea of how many pathology programs I should apply to in the upcoming cycle. For some background, I am a fourth year DO student at an established school in the NE graduating off cycle in September and will be participating in the next Match (a cycle later than if I graduated on time). I will be considered a DO Senior for match purposes. This was due to a medical Leave of Absence I took during my third year, it was for severe depression and suicidal... Anatomic Pathology Residency Questions
Hi! I'm a new member and this is my first time posting! I've found some helpful threads from past years and am hoping you guys can help me. I'm a current 3rd year student and am busy looking into anatomic pathology residency programs to apply to this year. After doing a bunch of research on my own and talking to the residents at our diagnostic lab (where I work), I've got a few top programs I'm looking at (University of George, NC State, Louisiana State) and wonder if there's any thoughts on... Dartmouth (Geisel) vs. Wright State vs. Cincinnati vs. Western Michigan
Geisel Pros -They value non-trads and I am non-trad -Good match list -Service oriented, which I value Cons -Expensive -Very cold (I am from a warm place and cold can be hard for me) -Small and rural location (I was hoping for a slightly bigger city) Wright State Pros -NBME exams -In Dayton, an area I really like Cons -Not as prestigious as my other options -Seems very primary care focused (I am interested in pathology) Cincinnati Pros -They have a decently large pathology... Is it difficult to match back to New York as a DO for pathology?
I am from NY and will be beginning at MSUCOM later this year. My wife works in NYC and I would love to match back into the city since we envision settling down there. I understand I have to study hard and do well on exams and get all my ducks in a row, but is NYC an unrealistic goal for someone attending a DO program? I'll have taken a few gap years before entering med school and am pretty set on pathology from my previous experiences, not much interest in the super competitive specialties...
