Anyone have any clue wth is going on in groups near them? Im seeing a near panic levels of recruitment for either FT or PT staff pathologists but wages dont seem to be moving.
And Im seeing 3-4 month blocks needed that are comically impossible to cover. Is this pregnancy leave for the giant gender flux occurring? I have never seen locums needs that long before in this volume.

Pathology resident suicide
So I have learned of a residency program from an IM friend in Missouri that a pathology resident committed suicide earlier this year. I haven’t heard any other news about it but I thought I would share since it has been so silent. From what I understand it sounds like the resident went to a malignant place.

Microscopic descriptions
Does anyone do them on all cases? I think its completely worthless in a vast majority of cases with the exception of a few. For some reason some of the people in my group say it provides some sort of legal protection. This makes zero sense to me. If you say you didnt see something and its there, how does that protect you? Moonlighting as a Pathology Resident
Does anyone have experience in moonlighting during Path residency? I have two opportunities that are opening up for moonlighting, one internal and one external. The internal opportunity would be performing additional autopsies for the attendings at our academic hospital practice (proposed compensation would be 80% of professional fee). The external opportunity is performing disability exams for the state on weekends.
I imagine both would be fairly lucrative in comparison to resident...
