H1 Visa programs and ROL.
Are UMMS Baystate and Temple University offering H1 B visas (Pathology)? I asked the residents this question and they were hesitant to answer. Apparently, Baystate only offered H1 visas to their top 10 applicants last year. Is it worth putting these programs over other Universities programs in better location and that offers in-house fellowships for visa seeking applicants just for the sake of H1 Visa. Old Queer non-trad Intro
Hi everyone! I'll be 41 when I graduate from my CC with a BAS in community health management. (3.5 gpa, strong upward trend) This will be my first undergrad degree and I'm very excited to have found my place. I've had so many jobs but the ones I enjoyed the most focused on wellness and education. I've been a vet tech, phlebotomist, pathology assistant, and a sex positive educator. I was a massage therapist and my passion for teaching others about their bodies and how to heal themselves... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advice for a newly minted neurohospitalist …
Happy new year all! Hoping to seek some advice from everyone out there. In my first gig outside of residency and so far it has generally been a good experience. (It’s the a private group who contracts with the hospital). I like the people I work with and surprisingly see a nice variety of pathology. I have one year left on my initial contract. However, the schedule right now is essentially 12 on 2 off. I’m doing fine now but am worried about burnout in the future. In addition we are in the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Dermpath compensation?
Anyone know the average compensation for dermpath? Is it in line with other pathology salaries or is it generally as or more lucrative than general derm? Is it difficult to match dermpath through a dermatology residency? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UAB Pathology program
I did my pathology training many years ago at UAB, but haven't seen the program discussed recently in any of the rank list discussions. There has been essentially complete faculty turnover from the time I was there. What are the current views regarding the UAB pathology residency program? Just wondering if there are issues since I don't see the program discussed. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Rank List Help
My top 3 in no particular order are: Univ of Iowa, Univ of Nebraska, Univ of New Mexico. Location between those 3 places is not an issue. I have heard good things about Iowa and New Mexico, but do not know as much about Nebraska and wondered if anyone had any insight. I really liked all 3 interviews so am having a hard time between those. I am unsure of what fellowship I want to pursue. I also really liked UAMS, UAB, & KUMC but those are lower based on location for me. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Mentors and Program Directors.
Does your PI, with whom you have worked for the past year, have a say in ranking if he vouch for you strongly to the program director. The PI is from a different department, but the university is the same. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology
Hi all, Through working at an OMFS group practice, I have been exposed to biopsies and in reading the biopsy report, I have come to really be interested in Oral Pathology. I also took a Pathology course (general) in my post-bacc and really enjoyed it. I am an incoming D1 this Fall, and want to see if anyone has advice on things to keep in mind while wanting to potentially specialize in this field. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

another rank list; questions about programs
Right now these are in no particular order: Northwestern University UPMC University of Washington Emory University Duke University Are there any significant differences of these programs' reputation nationally? I know most say to try and train in the region you're interested in working, but I will say I'm less interested in one of these programs due to some circumstances and personal preferences, even though it is the area that I would likely see myself most long-term. Lastly, will... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
