Catastrophic impact of 1947 partition of India on people's health
CONCLUSION: The review demonstrates the apathy by the contemporary international scientific research community on the social as well as economic damage caused by the partition of India. We suggest that the international scientific and research community should play the role of vigilante and fact finder to unearth the facets of mass human tragedy and its long-term consequences so that global consciousness is awakened, and help and aid flows when it is most needed.PMID:38605803 | PMC:PMC11006024 | DOI:10.4103/jfmpc.jfmpc_985_23 (Source: Primary Care)

Social Support and Spousal Relationship Quality Improves Responsiveness among Anxious Mothers
Child Psychiatry Hum Dev. 2024 Apr 13. doi: 10.1007/s10578-024-01702-5. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMaternal responsiveness, a mother's ability to consistently identify infant cues and then act on them, is critical for healthy child development. A woman's social support and spousal relationship may affect responsiveness to an infant, especially among mothers with anxiety. We assessed how social support and spousal relationship quality is associated with responsiveness among anxious mothers, and if postpartum depression (PPD) moderated these associations. Cross-sectional data were collected from 2019 to 2022 in a public h...

Sensors, Vol. 24, Pages 2484: Cardiac Arrhythmia Classification Using Advanced Deep Learning Techniques on Digitized ECG Datasets
an Adnan Shahid ECG classification or heartbeat classification is an extremely valuable tool in cardiology. Deep learning-based techniques for the analysis of ECG signals assist human experts in the timely diagnosis of cardiac diseases and help save precious lives. This research aims at digitizing a dataset of images of ECG records into time series signals and then applying deep learning (DL) techniques on the digitized dataset. State-of-the-art DL techniques are proposed for the classification of the ECG signals into different cardiac classes. Multiple DL models, including a convolutional neural network (CNN), a lon...

Detection of Haptoglobin and Serum Amyloid A as Biomarkers in Naturally Infected Mycoplasma bovis Calves
Acta Trop. 2024 Apr 10:107215. doi: 10.1016/j.actatropica.2024.107215. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe livestock sector of Pakistan is increasing rapidly and it plays important role both for rural community and national economy. It is estimated that almost 8 million rural people are involved in livestock rearing and earning about 35-40% of their income from the livestock sector. Mycoplasma bovis (M. bovis) infection causes significant economic losses in dairy animals especially young calf in the form of clinical illnesses such as pneumonia, poly-arthritis, respiratory distress and mortality. M. bovis is hard to diagnose ...

Maternal and fetal outcomes in pregnancy complicated by pre-existing lupus nephritis: Insights from a developing country Pakistan
CONCLUSION: The maternal and fetal outcomes in pre-existing LN depend on the disease activity at the time of conception. No correlation was found between International Society of Nephrology/Renal Pathology Society (ISN/RPS) classes of LN and adverse disease and pregnancy outcomes.PMID:38594605 | DOI:10.1177/09612033241246642 (Source: Lupus)

Understanding Challenges Women Face in Flood-Affected Areas to Access Sexual and Reproductive Health Services: A Rapid Assessment from a Disaster-Torn Pakistan
CONCLUSION: The findings concluded that there was no planning for sexual and reproductive health services in the flood-affected areas. Several barriers were identified. The government and development partners needed to prepare to cater to women's needs during the floods. The findings highlight the need for collaborative efforts between the government, civil society, and development partners to address the challenges faced in disaster management and strengthen disaster management capacity.PMID:38590384 | PMC:PMC11001467 | DOI:10.1155/2024/1113634 (Source: Biomed Res)

An insight into emergence of lumpy skin disease virus: a threat to Indian cattle
Arch Microbiol. 2024 Apr 9;206(5):210. doi: 10.1007/s00203-024-03932-6.ABSTRACTLumpy skin disease (LSD) is a highly infectious and economically devastating viral disease of cattle. It is caused by Lumpy Skin Disease Virus (LSDV) belonging to the genus Capripoxvirus and family Poxviridae. The origin of lumpy skin disease has been traced to Zambia, (an African nation) in Southern part during the year 1929. The first reported case of LSD besides Africa was from Israel, a Middle Eastern nation, thus proving inter-continental spread. Subsequently, the disease entered Middle East, Eastern Europe and Asia with numerous outbreaks ...
