Pain- PM & R Office Build Out
I'm leasing some new office space and need advice on a build out. Office space is 1500 sq feet, landlord is doing a full buildout to my specs. How big of a room do you typically allocate to a flouroscopy suite (plan to do basic interventional spine procedures in the office). How big do you typically make your exam rooms? What are some features I should ask for in the build out. Planning for 3 exam rooms, 1 procedure suite for fluoroscopy, personal office, small work space for midlevel... Using AI in Pain Management...
If I were an insurance company and found out that a pain doctor used a virtual AI ambient scribe to create clinical documentation that incorporated all the medical necessity criteria from the health plan's medical policies for interventional pain procedures into the note, and then prompted the clinician to ask specific questions at the end of the encounter if said criteria were not fulfilled, I'd be pissed... Opioid Agonist Therapy Underused, Data Suggest
The low rates of opioid agonist therapy administration over time suggest that additional efforts are needed to promote this intervention in acute care settings, according to the researchers. www.medscape.com When you take policy statements from family docs seriously. Have others learned nothing from the past 30 year opioid disaster in the US? Giving a long acting morphine to those with OUD is not in their or society's best interests. Periapical abscess from invisalign?
A friend of mine was diagnosed with periapical abscess and now needs root canal at a young age. Is this a common complication of invisalign? She never had any tooth sensitivity or toothache other than some pain when changing invisalign trays. Even the abscess doesnt cause any pain, it was just so swollen and was seen on xray, so I assume the nerve is dead. Just don’t know when the nerve died when she did not have any symptoms before. Thank you in advance. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Hi PA Psychologists!! I took the PPLE and failed it So frustrating after taking/passing the EPPP. Not to mention that the PA board is being a pain about it. My question is for people who passed the PPLE: What are some study tips that you may have and how should I navigate the questions on the exam that are so oddly/specifically worded? Thanks for your help and encouragement!! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Office Fluoro Contrast Billing
For those of you who do in office fluoro - how do you handle billing for contrast? Our EMR (ModMed) calculates billing meds by mL used and so 1 mL of Omnipaque-300 is billed ~$0.40. Which is wayyy below cost of Omnipaque. Does everyone just eat the cost of contrast at a loss or am I missing something with how contrast should be billed? Our billing team wants to bill by 'unit' and argues 1 mL = 300 units of Omnipaque-300 - this seems incorrect at welcoming an audit nightmare. Any... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
