Pain Management Needs in Texas
Group is looking to bring in a couple of pain physicians. Group is growing. All types of procedures are performed. Would like someone with the ability to effectively wean new patients off any medications in order to begin treatment with alternate options. Practice owned ASCs, additional procedural suites, modern offices and highly trained support staff and mid-levels (both NP's and PAs). Would like the incoming physicians to have TX license already, however, they have a couple of... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Lead apron suggestions?
I’m shopping for some new lead aprons as our current ones are pretty worn out. I do not like wearing the two pieces vest and skirt design (annoying to remove and put back on) and prefers the one piece design. Also the old ones are super heavy and I could use something lighter. Any recommendations on lead apron vendors for something lightweight with good ergonomics and shielding? What’s the minimum lead equivalent I should aim for without killing my back? Does advanced imaging guide therapy
I’m a PMR/spine specialist and was curious if MRIs help you all when treating chronic neck and/ or low back pain? If so can you give specific examples of how it would guide your treatment plan in both the neck and low back. Appreciate all that you do (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Average wRVUs West Coast?
I am looking to relocate to California. I was recently offered a position at a hospital, production only model with an offer of 62 dollars per wRVU. Anyone have average dollar per RVU data for California? I was only able to find MGMA data from 2018, nothing more recent. Thank you! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Options for Pancoast tumor pain
One of the local family docs called me - his 100 year old patient was having arm pain and Horner's syndrome, and lo and behold we found a huge Pancoast tumor invading into brachial plexus, with bony mets in the cervical spine as well. He's sending her to hospice, but wants to know if I have any palliative procedures I can do first. Would any of you try a neurolysis? Anatomy seems too messy to try a brachial plexus catheter. Any other ideas? Should I just let hospice do what they can with... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Consistently low creatinine on UDS??
I have a patient who was referred by a retiring rheumatologist on 90 MMES morphine. She was consistently short on her morphine and I transitioned to buprenorphine. Since starting buprenorphine every UDS (three times now) has reported abnormal creatinine (“dilute urine. May result in false negative. Possible deliberate diluation.”) Her UDS on her initial visit did not show abnormal creatinine. Could there a physiological reason for this or is she being facitious? I felt I couldn’t definitely... Pslf
Planning on doing pain fellowship. Is it worth it to apply to PSLF? It seems like most jobs out there are private practice jobs and they would not qualify for PSLF. I believe some of the HOPD jobs would qualify but definitely not all. Any pain docs that actually went through PSLF and had their loans successfully forgiven? Sij
This is such a boring conversation topic but I can’t help myself. Why is there an obsession with SIJ as a pain generator? Why is it over diagnosed, over treated to the point of fusion. Like what is it? I remember 1st year out of fellowship asking this question to myself and others about unilateral ass pain…to this day I continue to wonder about ass pain and the obsession of SIJ as a go to diagnosis. Are there any new studies, treatments, diagnostic pearls, let’s please not bore ourselves... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Job advertising and recruiting
I’m with a private practice Ortho group. I found out that we are paying a ridiculous amount to ZipRecruiter each month for job postings. in addition to MA and receptionist, PA and NP positions, we also have job postings for physicians on there. 1. How do those of you in private practice advertise for and find office staff? I’m not kidding myself that anyone is finding their dream job with us so we’re looking for local candidates or people specifically searching for jobs in our city. What...
