Pathologically Confirmed Subcutaneous Fat and Lymphovascular Invasion of a Hypopigmented Area in Extramammary Paget Disease
We report a case of a 62-year-old male with EMPD that invaded the subcutaneous fat layer. He presented with a several-year history of a slowly expanding erythematous plaque with the hypopigmented area on the left penoscrotum. One month before presentation, the patient had undergone punch biopsy at another hospital and diagnosed with EMPD. He had no personal history of urogenital cancers. The patient was treated with Mohs micrographic surgery, and negative margins were achieved after four stages. The histopathologic findings revealed Paget cells scattered throughout the epidermis. At the hypopigmented area, Paget cells exte...

Remote Respiratory Resistance Exercise Training Improves Respiratory Function in Individuals with VCP Multisystem Proteinopathy
Mutations in the valosin-containing protein (VCP) gene cause an autosomal dominant multisystem proteinopathy, associated with inclusion body myopathy with Paget's disease of bone and frontotemporal dementia (IBMPFD), also known as VCP disease. VCP, one of the most abundant cytosolic proteins, is involved in cellular processes such as endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation pathway, nuclear envelope reconstruction, post-mitotic Golgi reassembly, and apoptosis [4]. In affected individuals, heterozygous variants in the VCP gene result in progressive muscle atrophy and weakness in approximately 90%, Paget's disease of bon...

Paget's disease of bone in the patient presented with a bowed leg
Key Clinical MessageIn dealing with bowed limbs along with increased alkaline phosphatase (ALP), even if the typical changes to the face are not very noticeable at first glance, Paget's disease of the bone (PDB) should be suspected, and the necessary investigations should be carried out to confirm the diagnosis.AbstractPaget's disease of the bone (PDB) is the second most prevalent metabolic bone disorder worldwide with disorganized bone remodeling. Here, a patient is presented with pain and bending of the right leg, whose skull and forehead changes are not noticeable at first glance, but with clinical suspicion and additio...

Clinicopathological profile of breast cancer from Chhattisgarh India: A single-center hospital-based study
CONCLUSION: The clinico-epidemio and histological profile of breast cancer in Chhattisgarh is similar to other parts of India. Scarff Bloom Richardson Grade was predominantly grade 2 in 46.25% (37/80) contrary to Grade III (70%) in other series from India.PMID:38024932 | PMC:PMC10657078 | DOI:10.4103/jfmpc.jfmpc_2315_22 (Source: Primary Care)

Are there clinical and subclinical/pathological forms of Paget ’s disease of the breast?
ConclusionPDB is a rare condition associated with multifocality/multicentricity and HER2 overexpression. Cases of clinical disease and those of subclinical/pathological disease differ significantly. Further studies are required to evaluate the clinical/areolar disease and the impact of advances in breast disease management on PDB. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)
