A study on the reliability and validity of the Japanese version of the Scenario Test for people with chronic stroke-induced aphasia: A cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS & IMPLICATIONS: The reliability and validity of the Scenario Test-JP align with those of the original Dutch version and the UK and Greek versions. Additionally, the assessment can now include extended alternative communication methods, such as digital devices, indicating the potential of the Scenario Test-JP for modern Japanese speech-language therapy.WHAT THIS PAPER ADDS: What is already known on the subject Interactive communication is a facet of functional communication and is crucial for evaluating engagement and participation of people with aphasia (PWA) in speech-language therapy. The Scenario Test provid...

Worry as Important "Feelers" in Clinical Anesthesia Practice: A Mixed-Methods Study
CONCLUSIONS: While a clear definition of worry could not be given, it is a valuable element of anesthesia practice as it serves as a catalyst for critical thinking, problem-solving, clinical reasoning, and decision-making. Use of the feeling of worry alongside technological systems to make an informed decision is crucial. Technology has significantly improved the ability of health care providers to detect and respond to patient deterioration promptly, but it is crucial for nurse anesthetists to use their feeling of worry or intuition alongside technological systems and evidence-based practice to ensure quick assessments or...

Integrating Family Strengths in Child Protection Goals
This study investigates to what extent CPWs draw on families' strengths, that is, by promoting autonomy and competencies and by involving their informal networks in goal formulation. This quantitative study analysed the goals, as stated in case files, formulated by CPWs for 177 families within a single Dutch child protection service. 48.6% of CPWs prioritise promoting families' autonomy in goal formulation. With regard to competencies, only 40.1% of the goals refer to the families' competencies. In addition, the support system that the goals call upon tends to be dominated by formal rather than informal networks (in 71.2% ...

Validation of models for assessing eligibility for referral for Device-Aided Treatment in Parkinson's disease (VALIDATE)
Background: Timely identification of patients with Parkinson ’s disease (PD) who may be eligible for device-aided therapy (DAT) is important but challenging for general neurologists. Several screening tools have been proposed for this purpose, including the easy-to-use Dutch Device-Aided Therapy Screening tool (D-DATS) (Moes et al. 2023). D-DATS is based on the presence of response fluctuations and troublesome dyskinesias, and the levodopa equivalent daily dose. The aim of this study was to externally validate D-DATS and to compare it with the 5-2-1 criteria. (Source: Parkinsonism and Related Disorders)

Cost-effectiveness of pessary therapy versus surgery for symptomatic pelvic organ prolapse: an economic evaluation alongside a randomised non-inferiority controlled trial
Conclusions Non-inferiority of pessary therapy regarding the PGI-I could not be shown and no statistically significant differences in QALYs between interventions were found. Due to significantly lower costs, pessary therapy is likely to be cost-effective compared with surgery as an initial treatment option for women with symptomatic POP treated in secondary care. Trial registration number NTR4883. (Source: BMJ Open)
