Upper Aerodigestive Tract Endoscopy Combining Rigid Laryngoscopy and Flexible Endoscopy
Surg Innov. 2024 Mar 6:15533506241238870. doi: 10.1177/15533506241238870. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTUpper Aerodigestive Tract Endoscopy (UATE) is recommended for initial examination of head and neck squamous cell carcinomas. Reducing delay of initial examination must be a challenge to manage head and neck cancers. We hereby describe the technic combining UATE and flexible endoscopy in a unique general anesthesia with overview of hypopharyngeal, larygeal, tracheal, esophageal, nasopharyngeal sub sites in a unique procedure with system of magnificense and to perform percutaneous gastrostomy during the same time before in...

Radiotherapy alone versus concurrent chemoradiotherapy in patients with stage II and T3N0 nasopharyngeal carcinoma with adverse features: A propensity score-matched cohort study
CONCLUSION: For patients with stage II and T3N0 NPC with adverse features treated using IMRT, no improvement in survival was gained by adding concurrent chemotherapy; however, the occurrence of acute toxicities increased significantly. For those combined with non-single adverse factors, the comprehensive treatment strategy needs further exploration.PMID:38432309 | DOI:10.1016/j.radonc.2024.110189 (Source: Radiotherapy and Oncology : journal of the European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology)

Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1037: A Joint Model Based on Post-Treatment Longitudinal Prognostic Nutritional Index to Predict Survival in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma
Conclusions: Longitudinal PNI data independently predicted the overall survival in patients with NPC, significantly forecasting 90-day survival outcomes. We recommend routine PNI assessments during each clinic visit for these patients. (Source: Cancers)

Quality of life in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma receiving IMRT vs IMPT: a multicenter prospective longitudinal study
ConclusionRadiation dose, symptom distress, and depression were the most important factors affecting QOL in patients with NPC. Understanding the factors associated with the trajectory of QOL can guide care during radiation treatment. (Source: Supportive Care in Cancer)

Epidemiology of nasopharyngeal carcinoma: current insights and future outlook
AbstractNasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is characterised by its remarkable geographical and ethnic distribution. The interplay between genetic susceptibility, environmental exposures, and Epstein –Barr virus (EBV) infections is indicated in the development of NPC. Exposure to tobacco smoking, dietary factors, and inhalants has been associated with the risk of NPC. Genetic association studies have revealed NPC-associated susceptibility loci, including genes involved in immune responses, xen obiotic metabolism, genome maintenance, and cell cycle regulation. EBV exposure timing and strain variation might play a role in its c...
