Extranodal natural killer/T cell lymphoma nasal type simulating osteoradionecrosis with metachronic B lymphoma in the pelvis: Case report
Indian J Pathol Microbiol. 2024 Jan-Mar;67(1):162-165. doi: 10.4103/ijpm.ijpm_296_22.ABSTRACTExtranodal Natural Killer/T Cell Lymphoma Nasal Type (EN-NK/T-CL-NT) is a non-Hodgkin extranodal lymphoma of unfavorable prognosis due to its aggressive nature. This neoplasm mainly affects the paranasal sinuses, nasopharynx, oropharynx, oral cavity, palate, and rarely intestinal, gastric and skin regions. 50-year-old female with a history of lymphoma in nasal and pelvic region. At four years of tumors-free, has facial asymmetry, accompanied by sub-palpebral, nasal and lip edema. Intraoral examination revealed a large ulceration su...

CPNE1, A Potential Therapeutic Target in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma, Affects Cell Growth and Radiation Resistance
In conclusion, these results demonstrated that CPNE1 expression is elevated in nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells, and its silencing could attenuate nasopharyngeal carcinoma advancement and improve radiosensitivity to radiation therapy by controlling Akt activation.PMID:38355101 | DOI:10.1667/RADE-23-00220.1 (Source: Radiation Research)

The individualized delineation of clinical target volume for primary nasopharyngeal carcinoma based on invasion risk of substructures: a prospective, real-word study with a large population
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is one of the most common malignancies in Southeast Asia, exhibiting a significantly uneven geographic distribution [1]. Radiotherapy is the backbone of treatment for NPC due to its inherent radiosensitivity and the intricate anatomic location of the tumor. Intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) can deliver conformal and homogeneous dose distribution to the target area while spare surrounding normal tissue at the same time [2 –4]. A growing body of evidence has demonstrated the efficacy of IMRT in enhancing tumor local control rates and minimizing radiation-induced side effects, making it ...

Optimizing cervical target volume in patients with nasopharyngeal cancer based on nodal drainage distance
CONCLUSIONS: In NPC, the maximum LN drainage distance was 3.95 cm without considering the direction. Specifically, in cranial-to-caudal direction, the sufficient vertical drainage distance was 2.81 cm, indicating that a 3-cm extension from the most inferior node may be rational as caudal border of the prophylactic clinical target volume (CTV). These findings promote in-depth understanding of nodal spreading patterns, uncovering paramount evidence for individualized CTV.PMID:38349999 | DOI:10.1158/1078-0432.CCR-23-3274 (Source: Clinical Cancer Research)

Multimodality radiomics for tumor prognosis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma
by Sararas Khongwirotphan, Sornjarod Oonsiri, Sarin Kitpanit, Anussara Prayongrat, Danita Kannarunimit, Chakkapong Chakkabat, Chawalit Lertbutsayanukul, Sira Sriswasdi, Yothin Rakvongthai BackgroundThe prognosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is challenging due to late-stage identification and frequently undetectable Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNA. Incorporating radiomic features, which quantify tumor characteristics from imaging, may enhance prognosis assessment. PurposeTo investigate the predictive power of radiomic features on overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), and distant metastasis-free survival ...

Imaging spectrum and complications of otogenic infections: insights into delayed diagnosis
Br J Radiol. 2024 Jan 13:tqae015. doi: 10.1093/bjr/tqae015. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSkull base osteomyelitis (SBO) is a late manifestation of complicated otogenic infections that presents a diagnostic challenge. Delayed or missed diagnoses lead to high morbidity and mortality and can be attributed to non-specific symptoms, subtle early radiologic findings, radiologic mimicry of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), and under-recognition from clinician and radiologists. This pictorial review aims to emphasize on early imaging recognition and distinction between SBO and NPC.PMID:38335140 | DOI:10.1093/bjr/tqae015 (Source: Th...
