Fertility potential and safety assessment of residual ovarian cortex in young women diagnosed with epithelial borderline and early-stage malignant ovarian tumors
CONCLUSIONS: Personalized counseling for fertility preservation is required in the event of BOTs and early-stage EOCs. Fertility-sparing surgery and adjuvant gamete preservation should be considered, balancing the oncological risks according to tumor stage and histotype and fertility potential, especially at a younger age.PMID:38492474 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2024.03.008 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Benign Brenner tumor of the ovary: two-dimensional and contrast-enhanced ultrasound features —a retrospective study from a single center
ConclusionsBBT can show ovarian cystic, mixed cystic and solid type, and solid echo in 2D ultrasound. Unilateral ovarian fibrosis with punctate calcification is an important feature of BBT in 2D ultrasound. However, for solid adnexal masses and mixed cystic and solid masses with unclear diagnosis, if CEUS shows isoenhancement or hyperenhancement, the possibility of BBT cannot be excluded. Cadherin-17 (CDH17) expression in human cancer: A tissue microarray study on 18,131 tumors
This study was to comprehensively determine the expression of CDH17 in cancer and to further assess the diagnostic utility of CDH17 immunohistochemistry (IHC). A tissue microarray containing 14,948 interpretable samples from 150 different tumor types and subtypes as well as 76 different normal tissue types was analyzed by IHC. In normal tissues, a membranous CDH17 staining was predominantly seen in the epithelium of the intestine and pancreatic excretory ducts. In tumors, 53 of 150 analyzed categories showed CDH17 positivity including 26 categories with at least one strongly positive case. CDH17 positivity was most common ...

CK7+/CK20+/CDX2+ mucinous carcinoma, arising in a mature cystic teratoma of ovary, presenting with disseminated metastasis and pseudomyxoma peritonei
In this report, we have described a case of a well-differentiated mucinous carcinoma arising within a mature cystic teratoma. The mucinous carcinoma showed a spectrum of morphological patterns, including cystadenoma-like areas, proliferative/borderline areas, villous adenoma-like areas, and areas of invasive carcinoma. In addition, our case showed some unusual findings, namely, diffuse CK7 positivity, associated pseudomyxoma peritonei, and metastasis to lungs. These features were not demonstrated in any of the previously reported cases. Our case shows that the teratomatous mucinous neoplasm of the ovary may show CK7+/CK20+...

Neoplastic Progression in Macroscopic Precursor Lesions of the Pancreas
CONCLUSIONS.—: Macroscopic cystic lesions of the pancreas are morphologically and molecularly diverse. IPMNs and MCNs share mucinous cytoplasm with papillae. MCNs are defined by ovarian-type stroma. IOPNs have granular eosinophilic cytoplasm, prominent nucleoli, and complex, arborizing papillae. ITPNs demonstrate complex, back-to-back tubules and anastomosing papillae and lack prominent intracellular mucin. IPMNs and MCNs are characterized by driver mutations in KRAS/GNAS (IPMNs) and KRAS (MCNs), with later driver events in RNF43, CDKN2A, SMAD4, and TP53. In contrast, IOPNs and ITPNs have recurrent rearrangements in PRKA...

Risk of borderline ovarian tumors after fertility treatment - Results from a Danish cohort of infertile women
CONCLUSIONS: No marked associations between use of fertility drugs and borderline ovarian tumors were observed. However, the cohort's relatively young age at end of follow-up emphasizes the importance of extending the follow-up period for women who have used fertility drugs.PMID:38382167 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2024.02.013 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

A Rare Case of Ovarian Abscess Secondary to Salmonella typhi Infection in Women with MRKH: A Case Report and Review of Literature
We report a case of a 32  yr old woman with fever of unknown origin unresponsive to medical management. During her fever work up, her blood tests suggested typhoid infection while her MRI suggested right sided ovarian mass with high suspicion of mucinous cystadenoma. On staging laparotomy, huge right sided ovarian abscess was found. Right salpingo-oopherectomy was performed. Pus culture suggestedSalmonella typhi infection and histopathology suggested infected ovarian endometrioma. (Source: The Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology of India)
