CARS Books?
Hello! I am planning on getting Kaplan books for content review, but I saw on here that their CARS book and TBR's CARS books aren't optimal. I do plan on getting all the AAMC materials to do 4-6 weeks before my MCAT, but I was just wondering what you all recommend what books/materials other than AAMC I should get right now to start preparing for CARS. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I wanna do pre-med but I don't know how...
I'll be a freshman this Fall and I really want to pursue pre-med. I'm an international student and so I need to go to med school (if I can reach that stage, that is) right after undergrad, w/o taking a gap year, due to visa issues. So my question is, is that possible if I take my MCAT in the summer after my junior year and then apply for med school? If yes, then will I be inexperienced (since I won't have that many ECAs under my belt) and not mature enough (I'll be 22 at the end of... I wanna do pre-med but I don't know how... Approximate date range when MD schools could be looking at completed secondary applications?
With AMCAS delaying transmission of primaries to July 10th, is there a realistic approximate date range for when medical schools will be looking at completed secondary exams? I currently have a 510 MCAT score so I know I'll get secondaries. WAMC and Advice For Upcoming Cycle
Hey everyone, I have a 3.4c (sGPA around there too) and 515 MCAT score... which aren't incredible stats. I went to UMich-Ann Arbor and was an independently funded student with no access to most loans due to my parents claiming me as a dependent and refusing to cosign for loans. I was working 30 hour weeks with 18 credits (which sounds pretty whiny, but I'm hoping that gives some context to my GPA). I then worked as a neurogenetics lab technician for a year and a half and now work as a... WAMC and Advice For Upcoming Cycle (Source: Student Doctor Network)

MCAT Score Expired; Lower Score on Retake
SDN, I took the MCAT in August 2015 and scored a 511 (130/124/127/130). I recently took it again in March 2020 and scored a 506 (128/127/125/126)...was scoring well in B/B and P/S on practice (127-128) but dropped test day, oh well. How much will this drop affect me? Currently, I cannot re-take / register for an exam, given the current circumstances due to COVID. I know schools still have the ability to see the expired score, will they take that into account or is my drop a... MCAT Score Expired; Lower Score on Retake (Source: Student Doctor Network)

RPCV & MCAT advice
Hey everyone, I am looking for some advice. PC pulled out all volunteers a few weeks ago due to COVID-19. Now that I am back a year earlier than expected I am considering taking the MCAT in August/September so I can have a couple of months to study. I am about to start working full time as a Medical Assistant so I can't commit all my time to study for an earlier date. I am only planning on applying to DO schools. Is August/September too late for a test date for this upcoming cycle? The... RPCV & MCAT advice (Source: Student Doctor Network)

100% nontraditional "Liberal arts PhD to medical school application" student. May I ask for an honest evaluation of my application?
Hi everyone! I’m a nontraditional applicant, and was expecting to apply in early June. My MCAT date has been canceled twice, and I’m not sure if I am going to be able to take it this year, or even if I can, if I have a chance applying so late in the cycle. It really depends on what AMCAS does but for now I am staying positive. For the purposes of this, just assume I do average on the MCAT. I’ve never posted one of these threads, so I figured I would to see if there are any things I can work... 100% nontraditional "Liberal arts PhD to medical school application" student. I have been slowly increasing the number of daily timed CARS passages every 3 weeks, starting with 1 timed passage at a time, then up to 2 passages/day, then up to three timed passages/day and so on....Unfortunately I am finding that I am not yet at a consistent pace/accuracy level now that I am at the 3 passages mark. Is my method appropriate? Any advice is... Seeking advice on how to gradually pick up the pace on MCAT CARS (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should I go to medical school?
Hello all. I am a 30 year old premed student with a current gpa of 2.7 and I’m worried that I won’t be a competitive enough applicant for Med school. I am reaching out to see if you know of any MDs or students with a similar academic story. If so, what other activities, clinical experience, research, etc. did they use to boost their chances? How many hours did they accrue? What was their MCAT score? Did they yield the Holy Grail of recommendation letters? Essentially, I’m trying to set... Should I go to medical school? WAMC: foreign bachelors, prereqs in the US. 4.0 gpa, 512 mcat
Female , ORM I spent my childhood both in the U.S. and abroad. I did my bachelors abroad, but I am working on finishing all the prerequisites at a U.S. college, I am a US citizen. Most schools I am looking into require either a full year done at a US school/all the prerequisites done at a US school. I took off schools that require either a US bachelors/60/90 credits done a US school. If anyone has a similar background and got into medical school, would love to hear from them! ...
