*~ MCAT Study Buddy Mega-thread ~*
The volunteers at SDN have decided that it was time to create ‘Study Buddy’ mega-threads for those interested in linking up with other people in preparation of exams, such as the DAT, MCAT, and PCAT. In the past, most of these threads were moved to the Classified section or were left behind cluttering up their respective forums. So, in creating a new mega-thread for the MCAT forum, we hope that it will help those interested in trying to find a studying partner through SDN. Before making... *~ MCAT Study Buddy Mega-thread ~* (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Worth applying to public university DOs for an OOS with solid ECs + average stats?
Hey all, This is my first cycle and hopefully, my only one. I'm not as concerned about where I go as long as the school is legit and worth getting a degree at. Ideally, it'd be in the NE region, but beggars can't be choosers. I'm applying to about 20-30 schools as an ORM with solid ECs and average stats: cGPA: 3.7+| sGPA: 3.6+ | MCAT: 506. I also have a LoR from a DO physician. My question is: Is it worth applying to public university DOs (MSUCOM, OSU-COM, OU-HCOM specifically) as an... Hi fellow SDNers! I got a lot of hope & encouragement from reading last year's low GPA high MCAT threads, so I thought that as II's start coming out in the next few weeks we could start one for this year. I'm reporting in with a 3.5 cGPA, 3.2 sGPA, 3.9 grad GPA (non-SMP) and a 522. Completed 16 MD secondaries and 1 DO secondary thus far, at least 9 more MD secondaries to go and we'll see about more DO. Anybody else in the same sub-3.5 GPA and 517+ boat? Good at CARS, bad at timing.
I recently did FL 2 and although I was short on time a little bit for CARS, C/P, and B/B, I only had to guess on about 3-5 qs for B/B and C/P, but I had to guess on 14 (28%) of the questions for cars. The thing is I performed pretty well on the first 40 questions, getting 83% correct. Had I continued this streak, I would have gotten a 128, a very respectable score. However I ended up with a 125 after having to guess on the remaining 14 questions. My test is in a month and IDK what to do. I... Good at CARS, bad at timing. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Does an MCAT requirement mean the school is better?
Hi, I'm wondering if there is a difference in outcomes between Caribbean schools that require the MCAT and those that don't. Like, do more students graduate and get residency positions from schools that have the MCAT as an entrance requirement? I'm pre-med, done my undergrad and looking at the Caribbean as an option. I have a 3.3 gpa (4 point scale) and I'd rather not do a masters degree in order to increase my chances. I'm Canadian and my gpa is much lower than what I need to get into a... I'm in an odd situation with my stats. My GPA is currently 3.33 for cumulative and 3.32 for science gpa. MCAT is 522. Low GPA is due to severe health issues that came about sophomore and junior year. Probably depends on the testing center but I personally like to zoom out to where I can see most of the passage without scrolling (will we be able to do this?). Hi everyone! Just got my scores back from my 6/1 MCAT and wanted to see if this school list was reasonable. Here are some of my stats: 3.77 cGPA, 3.63 sGPA at Harvard. Non-science concentrator, so I have fewer science courses than other people. Had mono my at the end of my freshman year and had to make up a bio final the next fall, and has been general upward trend since then. 517 MCAT (130/129/128/130) Ohio resident, URM 60+ hours of clinical shadowing, mostly in... Why does MSAR MCAT differ from school specific websites?
I am looking through school websites on admissions stats and I and finding that the avg MCAT they list is a few points lower than the MSAR median. For example: Dartmouth website has 512 as avg MCAT but MSAR has 516. Is that because the MSAR is going by the median vs the avg (school website)? Just curious. Thanks! Honest opinion... how ridiculous is it to apply to ~5 schools in this situation?
I'm a non-trad who just completed a career changer post-bac. I finished with a cGPA and sGPA ~3.8 and average ECs. The issue is I **** the bed during the MCAT... figuratively and literally. I averaged 513 with even distribution throughout my FLs but caught a stomach bug on the week of the MCAT that forced me to take bathroom breaks during cars, b/b, and p/s. I got a 507 (130/126/125/126) which overall is just high enough to apply with... but that distribution under those circumstances is... Help please. Nervous dad with son starting a SMP program next month.
I'm a physician and all my knowledge about taking the MCAT and applying to medical school stops at 1982. I'm asking for anecdotal information to help me understand my sons situation. He just graduated college and starts a SMP at PCOM in Atlanta next month. He scored 485 on the MCAT but he didn't have time to prepare for it, taking organic chemistry and physics during the same year and was swamped with those courses. I don't know anything about the SMP's as they weren't around when I was... Help please. Nervous dad with son starting a SMP program next month. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

MCAT Prep with University Physics I
Hello, I have taken University physics I and was wondering if that will be a huge issue while prepping for the MCAT that I am planning to take in January 2020? Should I look into taking College Physics this semester or could I get by with University Physics? Please advise. -Yoshi (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Texas Resident, Music Major, Looking to apply OOS, cGPA 3.83, MCAT 519
Hey guys! Huge pre-emptive thank you to whoever reviews this and gives feedback. I'm a Texas resident with a fairly competitive application (I think). My undergrad pre-health committee requires that all TX residents apply to all 10 TX public schools, but I would like to have a few more options. My thoughts are that I should apply to 10 OOS schools so that I have 20 total. For the OOS schools, I'm thinking that I'll apply to a few schools that are comparable to some of TX's more highly... Section Bank Q's are so hard?
I have about 6 weeks out until my MCAT, and I'm doing section banks now, and they are soo difficult. I know they are supposed to be hard, but what "percentage" is considered good for a 128? I got 68% in P/S despite going over and doing Anki for the 300 pg KA doc. Bio is worse. I got a 52%. I started off really well, getting the first 10 questions right, but then there are some passages where I get every single question wrong (0/6), and many more sections where I get below random guessing...
