Premed -- > Med Student
I will start as an MS1 this year, so I want to start off running to prepare for residency. That being said, I have a few questions regarding residency placement. 1) Can you please give the relative importance of certain factors for residency placement (grades, step 1 scores, LOR, research, etc)? It would be helpful if percentages were used. For example, for premed, I would say it's 25% GPA, 25% MCAT, 20% volunteering, 15% research, 5% school, 10% everything else. Can you please give a... Really confused about what to do. Scored a 499 (124,124,125,126) on the MCAT and I really don't want to go through studying again if there is a possibility of interviews with a 499. I honestly at this point have no preference for which school I get into and I am 110% okay with primary care. I need some solid advice from someone who understands from my perspective. WAMC for 2021? Non-trad, 3.98 UG GPA, 3.83 chem PhD GPA, still need to study for MCAT
A little background: I'm about 6 months into my chemistry postdoc and cannot fathom staying in research. In typical marks of scientific success, I've done fairly well (authorship on 10+ publications, 20+ presentations), but definitely need a change. In undergrad I was pre-med/pre-dent for a few years, but went for analytical chem grad school because I did enjoy the work at the time. Graduating Undergrad a Year Early?
I have 30 credits from HS AP classes so I'm able to graduate a year early. I want to have a gap year for myself to play league of legends or travel the world depending on my mood. I'm finishing up an SMP at an MD school (no linkage). Realizing that I am facing an uphill battle I have applied mostly DO (complete in mid-oct due to late mcat) and to my in-state MD schools. I am low SES and qualify for FAP if that matters. Got waitlisted/on hold for an II at a few schools. How To Find Graduate Programs
So apparently I overestimated myself because my cycle's not going so well and I need to start thinking about my gap year plans. It looks like I can take two years off, the first piece of advice for reapplicants, because my MCAT will still be good at most schools in 2021 and that score was probably the strongest part of my application. Test percentile ranks for college vs med school selection?
Hello, As an upcoming applicant, I saw that MCAT medians have been creeping up year by year- same as how SAT/ACT did. Take WashU for example- their 25% ACT is a 32 (same for a lot of other top schools). Urgent MCAT study plan while abroad
Hi all, I am currently a junior at a T30 school with a good GPA (3.8 - 3.9). I originally planned to apply after my senior year (2021 cycle) to matriculate in the fall of 2022. As a result, I originally planned to take the MCAT next fall and to study for it the entire next summer. However, due to personal reasons, I have just been informed that I may only apply this coming cycle (June 2020) to matriculate in the fall of 2021. This is completely unexpected in my MCAT scheduling as I will be... Urgent MCAT study plan while abroad (Source: Student Doctor Network)

MCAT Study Tips Welcome
Hey everyone! My MCAT is in about a month. I’m currently in a SMP and the required minimum is a 503. Kaplan Diagnostic was a 495 (123/122/126/124) ~2.5 weeks ago. I hit a 500 (125/124/126/125) on Kaplan (FL1) last week and a 503 (126/124/128/125) on the AAMC FL1 this week. I’m aiming for a score higher than the minimum and wanted to know if you all have any advice on how to increase my score (especially in CARS and P/S)! Second time taking MCAT.....in need of advice
Hi, I have decided to start studying for the MCAT so I can retake it in March. I took it on 7/19 and I got a 497 (123,125,125,124). I had already applied this cycel and surprisingly I received a few secondaries from multiple schools that take lower MCAT scores. However, I have not received an invitation for an interview so here I am. I decided to start studying today and it has been absolute trash. I am not sure where to start or what to do. All I can think about is how this will be my... Second time taking MCAT.....in need of advice (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Likelihood of getting more interviews?
It's mid-December and I'm getting really worried. Here's the run down. GPA: 3.85; science GPA: ~3.80; MCAT: 510 (Chem/phys: 126, CARS: 128, Bio/Bio: 129, Psych: 127). I finished secondaries mid- to late September. I got a name change and became a US citizen some time over the summer and neither AMCAS nor TMDSAS would verify me until my legal information was updated with my university and with the government so I wasn't verified until mid-August. I applied to about 30 schools and since... Likelihood of getting more interviews? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Mcat prep from freshman year a good idea??
I am thinking of purchasing a MCAT review set so that while I am taking my pre-reqs I can challenge myself with review questions and prep while I take each class which will hopefully help in better preparing for the exam. Considering I am a freshman with a strong GPA for my first semester do you think this would be excessive? Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)
