Eosinophilia During Lenalidomide Therapy in Myelodysplastic Syndrome
Lenalidomide is an immunomodulatory therapy used to treat multiple hematologic malignancies. The incidence of eosinophilia and hypereosinophilia during lenalidomide therapy, and the requirement for high-dose steroids are not well-defined (Source: Clinical Lymphoma, Myeloma and Leukemia)

Primary extranodal marginal zone mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue-type B-cell lymphoma involving the dura: A case report
CONCLUSION: EMZMBCL is a rare disease that should be considered in the differential diagnosis of subdural lesions, especially when there is no history of trauma or abnormalities in the coagulation system. The patient had a favorable outcome after selecting radiotherapy as the adjuvant therapy.PMID:38628522 | PMC:PMC11021089 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_792_2023 (Source: Surgical Neurology International)

Complete response to front-line therapies is associated with long-term survival in HIV-related lymphomas in Taiwan
CONCLUSIONS: PLWH with DLBCL or BL had OS rates compatible to patients without HIV infection. Better outcomes for patients achieving CR to front-line therapy and those with shorter cART duration before lymphoma diagnosis suggest an underlying biological distinction in the lymphomas and the involvement of immunity, which warrants further studies.PMID:38632022 | DOI:10.1016/j.jmii.2024.04.001 (Source: Journal of Microbiology, Immunology, and Infection)

Zinc ameliorates acrylamide-induced oxidative stress and apoptosis in testicular cells via Nrf2/HO-1/NfkB and Bax/Bcl2 signaling pathway
CONCLUSION: In conclusion, zinc may protect against acrylamide-induced testicular toxicity, mediated by its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiapoptotic effects.PMID:38629506 | PMC:PMC11025409 | DOI:10.1080/13510002.2024.2341537 (Source: Redox Report : communications in free radical research)

Navigating resistance to ALK inhibitors in the lorlatinib era: a comprehensive perspective on NSCLC
Expert Rev Anticancer Ther. 2024 Apr 21:1-15. doi: 10.1080/14737140.2024.2344648. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTINTRODUCTION: The emergence of anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) rearrangements in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has revolutionized targeted therapy. This dynamic landscape, featuring novel ALK inhibitors and combination therapies, necessitates a profound understanding of resistance mechanisms for effective treatment strategies. Recognizing two primary categories - on-target and off-target resistance - underscores the need for comprehensive assessment.AREAS COVERED: This review delves into the intricacies of ...

Gene expression profiling of vitamin D metabolism enzymes in leukemia and lymphoma patients: molecular aspect interplay of VDR, CYP2R1, and CYP24A1
CONCLUSION: The study revealed a noteworthy difference in VDR protein levels between men and women. The highest mean CYP24A1 protein levels were observed in the age group > 60 years. This study found a significant, moderately positive correlation between VDR protein levels and CYP24A1 protein levels in the male and vitamin D sufficiency groups. In addition, a significant positive correlation was found between VDR mRNA levels and CYP2R1 mRNA levels, VDR mRNA levels and CYP2R1 mRNA levels, and CYP2R1 mRNA levels and CYP24A1 mRNA levels. However, the expression of these genes does not correlate with the protein levels of i...
