Assessment and prognostic significance of a serum cytokine panel in diffuse large B ‑cell lymphoma
In conclusion, the serum levels of IL-6, IL-10, IL-17, TNF-α and IFN-γ can potentially serve as biological indicators of DLBCL tumor immune status, and combined application with the IPI score can be a robust prognostic indicator in patients with DLBCL.PMID:38601181 | PMC:PMC11005083 | DOI:10.3892/ol.2024.14370 (Source: Oncology Letters)

Clinical characteristics and prognostic analysis of primary extranodal non-Hodgkin lymphoma of the head and neck
CONCLUSIONS: The most common site of PE-NHL in these Chinese patients was the Waldeyer's ring, but the incidence in the nasal cavity was higher than that reported in Western countries. Radiotherapy combined with chemotherapy had better efficacy than chemotherapy alone, and the prognosis depended on the ECOG score and clinical stage. IPI had a better prognostic value in patients in the high-risk group of head and neck PE-NHL.PMID:38604163 | DOI:10.18632/aging.205726 (Source: Aging)

Should paediatric tonsillar asymmetry be an indication for tonsillectomy? A single centre experience
CONCLUSION: Clinical size difference is a poor predictor for true tonsil volume difference. We advise that assessment of tonsil size should be performed in conjunction with the examination of gross visual abnormalities and lymphadenopathy to guide clinical decision making.PMID:38603788 | DOI:10.26635/6965.6386 (Source: New Zealand Medical Journal)

Clinical status and perspective on the application of immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy in advanced non-small cell lung cancer: a review
Chin Clin Oncol. 2024 Apr 8:cco-23-92. doi: 10.21037/cco-23-92. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe therapeutic landscape of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has been significantly improved by developing immunotherapy represented by programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) and programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI). Furthermore, immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy is an essential treatment strategy for driver-negative advanced NSCLC, especially in a population with PD-L1 <50%, and leads to long-term survival in the entire population regardless of the PD-L1 expression status. Howeve...

Mutant FOXO1 controls an oncogenic network via enhancer accessibility
Cell Genom. 2024 Apr 10;4(4):100537. doi: 10.1016/j.xgen.2024.100537.ABSTRACTTranscriptional dysregulation is a hallmark of diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL), as transcriptional regulators are frequently mutated. However, our mechanistic understanding of how normal transcriptional programs are co-opted in DLBCL has been hindered by a lack of methodologies that provide the temporal resolution required to separate direct and indirect effects on transcriptional control. We applied a chemical-genetic approach to engineer the inducible degradation of the transcription factor FOXO1, which is recurrently mutated (mFOXO1) in D...

Low-molecular-weight fucoidan increases telomere length and immunostimulatory effects on NK-92 cells following inhaled anesthetic injury
In this study, we determined the effect of isoflurane on telomeres and examined the potential of LMF to ameliorate the harmful effects of isoflurane. Male Lewis rats, the mouse lymphoma cell line YAC-1, and the human nature killer cell line NK-92 MI were exposed to isoflurane. The relative telomere length (T/S) ratio and mRNA expression were determined by quantitative PCR. The viability assay was used to assess cell viability. In vivo, 2% isoflurane exposure, which is a clinically relevant concentration, reduced telomere length, and correlated with exposure frequency and duration. Isoflurane concentrations above 2% shorten...
