Diagnostic Value of Transabdominal Ultrasonography in Gastrointestinal Malignant Tumors
CONCLUSION: Transabdominal ultrasonography shows promise as a diagnostic tool for gastrointestinal malignant tumors; however, it is recommended to be used in conjunction with other detection methods such as fibrous gastrointestinal tract examination to minimize the risk of missed diagnoses and misdiagnoses. The study highlights the potential of transabdominal ultrasonography as a non-invasive and accessible diagnostic method for gastrointestinal malignancies. Further research and advancements in imaging technologies are crucial for enhancing diagnostic capabilities and improving patient outcomes in the future.PMID:38607211...

Protracted Anaphylaxis and Cytokine Release Syndrome Six Days Following Rituximab Desensitization
Rapid desensitization to monoclonal antibodies is a well-described method for readministering medications after certain types of hypersensitivity reactions in cases where no therapeutic alternatives are available1. Our institution follows a standardized, 12-step protocol developed and described by Castells when these medications must be given2. Although reactions may occur during desensitization to monoclonal antibodies such as rituximab, many can be safely managed3. Here, we describe a case of a patient with non-Hodgkin's B-cell lymphoma who developed a protracted, mixed reaction to rituximab desensitization. (Source: Ann...

Urticarial Vasculitis - A Rare Clinical Presentation Of Hodgkin's Lymphoma
A 49-year-old male was admitted to the intensive care unit in June 2023 for symptoms of severe refractory idiopathic anaphylaxis. His symptoms began with acute diffuse urticaria, which progressed to lip angioedema, wheezing, dyspnea, dizziness, and pre-syncope. At initial evaluation in the emergency department he was hypotensive to 72/52 mm Hg requiring two rounds of intramuscular epinephrine and ultimately an epinephrine drip. These measures resolved his symptoms except for urticaria, for which he received a five day course of 40mg prednisone and 20mg cetirizine twice daily with improvement of his hives. Prognostic Utility of a Novel Prognostic Model Consisting of Age, CRP, Ki67, and POD24 in Patients with Angioimmunoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma
AbstractTo find the independent factors affecting the prognosis of AITL patients, establish a novel predictive model, and stratify the prognosis of AITL patients. We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 86 patients diagnosed with AITL in the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University from December 2010 to March 2022. The clinical features, recurrence time, and death time of patients were collected and analyzed statistically. The median age of our patients was 68  years old, and the male-to-female ratio was 2.2: 1. There are differences between males and females in ECOG PS score (p = 0.037), β2 m...

Prognostic Significance of T-Cells and Macrophages in the Tumour Microenvironment of Nodal DLBCL
AbstractRevised International Prognostic (R-IPI) score is used widely for risk stratification of DLBCL cases, yet some patients belonging to same risk category tend to exhibit different outcomes. The role of T-cells and macrophages in prognostication of lymphomas has been a point of interest of late. We aimed to study the association of FOXP3 positive T-regulatory cells, cytotoxic T-cells and macrophages with the immunophenotypic subtypes, clinicopathological characteristics, treatment response and survival in nodal diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients. The clinicopathological and treatment data of 83 DLBCL patie...

Understanding hemoglobin contribution to high-dose methotrexate disposition —population pharmacokinetics in pediatric patients with hematological malignancies
ConclusionThe developed population pharmacokinetic model can contribute to the therapy optimization during HDMTX in pediatric patients with ALL and NHL. In addition to renal function and body weight, it describes the influence of hemoglobin on CL, allowing better understanding of its contribution to the disposition of HDMTX.
