Myxoid pleomorphic liposarcoma
Histol Histopathol. 2024 Feb 26:18724. doi: 10.14670/HH-18-724. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMyxoid pleomorphic liposarcoma (MPL) is an extremely rare adipocytic tumor, recently recognized as a distinct entity in the 5th edition of the World Health Organization (WHO) Classification of Soft Tissue and Bone Tumors. Predominantly found in the mediastinum of young women, MPLs exhibit a combination of histological features characteristic of myxoid liposarcoma and pleomorphic (lipo)sarcoma. Their unique molecular features distinguish MPLs from other liposarcomas. Unlike myxoid liposarcomas and well-differentiated/dedifferentiat...

Spot scanning proton therapy for unresectable bulky retroperitoneal dedifferentiated liposarcoma: a case report
AbstractThe development of effective treatment strategies for unresectable retroperitoneal sarcoma is desirable. Herein, we suggest that definitive proton therapy (PT) could be a promising treatment option, regardless of the large size of the tumor. A 52-year-old man presented with a discomfort of the lower abdomen. Computed tomography revealed a retroperitoneal tumor, measuring over 20  cm in the largest dimensions, which was surrounded by the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Biopsy revealed dedifferentiated liposarcoma. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy was ineffective, and the tumor was ultimately deemed unresectable. The patient o...

Myxoid Liposarcoma of the Parotid Gland
Ear Nose Throat J. 2024 Feb 29:1455613241235499. doi: 10.1177/01455613241235499. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLiposarcoma is extremely rare in the parotid gland. In this article, we report the case of an 87-year-old man who presented to our department with swelling in the left parotid region. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed a tumor in the superficial lobe of the parotid gland. Total parotidectomy and ipsilateral lymph node dissection were performed. Histologic examination confirmed the diagnosis of myxoid liposarcoma of the parotid gland. On imaging, there was no evidence of nodal or distant metastasis. Radiatio...

Dose-Escalated Preoperative Proton Therapy for Retroperitoneal Sarcomas: Initial Outcomes of a New Treatment Paradigm
CONCLUSIONS: In our RPS cohort, preoperative dose-escalated RT to 63 Gy demonstrated comparable local control without G3 acute toxicities. Given the high local recurrence rates of RPS, this approach warrants further study to validate these results and identify patients most likely to benefit from therapy.PMID:38406389 | PMC:PMC10884413 | DOI:10.1016/j.adro.2023.101431 (Source: Cancer Control)

Liposarcoma of tongue: A case report
Indian J Pathol Microbiol. 2023 Nov 9. doi: 10.4103/ijpm.ijpm_448_23. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLiposarcoma (LS) is one of the most common malignant tumors. However, oral LS is an extremely rare lesion that is often clinically misdiagnosed as a benign lesion because of its asymptomatic and indolent clinical course. In oral cavity, the tongue is the most frequent site for its occurrence.PMID:38394426 | DOI:10.4103/ijpm.ijpm_448_23 (Source: Indian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology)

Primary liposarcoma of the uterus with MDM2 negative
We report a 37-year-old woman presented with lower abdominal discomfort and increase in vaginal secretions for more than 2 months. The ultrasonography revealed a hypoechoic mass sized 81 × 73 × 67 mm in the right adnexal area. Histopathologically, the neoplasm was mainly composed of mature adipose tissue, a small number of scattered lipoblasts, and the spindle cell which with mild atypia. Immunohistochemistry showed that the tumor cells were positive for CDK4 but negative for MDM2, and FISH analysis showed no MDM2 amplification. The patient only underwent tumor excision and is currently doing well.PMID:38394412 | DOI:10....
