Adenosinergic metabolism pathway: an emerging target for improving outcomes of solid organ transplantation
Transl Res. 2023 Sep 5:S1931-5244(23)00142-1. doi: 10.1016/j.trsl.2023.09.002. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTExtracellular nucleotides are widely recognized as crucial modulators of immune responses in peripheral tissues. ATP and adenosine are key components of extracellular nucleotides, the balance of which contributes to immune homeostasis. Under tissue injury, ATP exerts its pro-inflammatory function, while the adenosinergic pathway rapidly degrades ATP to immunosuppressive adenosine, thus inhibiting excessive and uncontrolled inflammatory responses. Previous reviews have explored the immunoregulatory role of extracellu...

Employing the sustained-release properties of poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) nanoparticles to reveal a novel mechanism of sodium-hydrogen exchanger 1 in neuropathic pain
Transl Res. 2023 Sep 5:S1931-5244(23)00143-3. doi: 10.1016/j.trsl.2023.09.003. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNeuropathic pain is caused by injury or disease of the somatosensory system, and its course is usually chronic. Several studies have been dedicated to investigating neuropathic pain-related targets; however, little attention has been paid to the persistent alterations that these targets, some of which may be crucial to the pathophysiology of neuropathic pain. The present study aimed to identify potential targets that may play a crucial role in neuropathic pain and validate their long-term impact. Through bioinformat...

Calcium-sensing receptor activator cinacalcet for treatment of cyclic nucleotide-mediated secretory diarrheas
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that CaSR activator cinacalcet has antidiarrheal efficacy in distinct human cell, organoid and mouse models of secretory diarrhea. Considering its excellent clinical safety profile, cinacalcet can be repurposed as a treatment for secretory diarrheas including cholera.PMID:37678755 | DOI:10.1016/j.trsl.2023.09.001 (Source: Translational Research : the journal of laboratory and clinical medicine)

Multi-dimensional metabolomic profiling reveals dysregulated ornithine metabolism hallmarks associated with a severe acute pancreatitis phenotype
CONCLUSIONS: The plasma metabolome of AP patients is distinctive, which shows promise for early SAP diagnosis. AP aggravation is linked to the activated ornithine metabolic pathway and its inadequate levels of catabolites in in-situ lesion.PMID:37619665 | DOI:10.1016/j.trsl.2023.08.003 (Source: Translational Research : the journal of laboratory and clinical medicine)
