Circulating Tumor DNA: Towards More Individualized Treatment for Patients with Resectable Colorectal Cancer
ConclusionThe detection of ctDNA is a sensitive and dynamic biomarker for disease recurrence in CRC. Many investigations are underway into ctDNA ’s potential role in surveillance and treatment algorithms, and it has the potential to become a critical biomarker to determine individualized strategies for treatment sequencing, choice, and duration of therapies. Caudal-to-Cranial Approach for Right Colectomy with Complete Mesocolic Excision in Colon Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
ConclusionAlthough the interpretation of our findings may be restrained by methodological limitations, risk of bias, and the absence of well-designed randomized controlled trials, CCA with CME in right-sided colon cancer may be a feasible and safe procedure. Identification of Novel Biomarkers for Response to Preoperative Chemoradiation in Locally Advanced Rectal Cancer with Genetic Algorithm –Based Gene Selection
ConclusionsUsing genetic algorithm as our gene selection method, we have identified two groups of genes that can differentiate PCRT responders from non-responders in patients of the studied dataset with considerable performance.ImpactAfter passing standard requirements, our gene signatures may be applicable as a robust and effective PCRT response prediction tool for colorectal cancer patients in clinical settings and may also help future studies aiming to further investigate involved pathways gain a clearer picture for the course of their research. Exercise and Nutritional Interventions in Patients with Advanced Gastroesophageal Cancer: A Systematic Review
ConclusionOur systematic review did not identify any high quality studies on exercise and nutritional interventions in advanced gastroesophageal cancer. We deem a randomized clinical trial on this topic to be highly needed. (Source: Journal of Gastrointestinal Cancer)

Integrated Analysis Identifies Novel Fusion Transcripts in Laterally Spreading Tumors Suggestive of Distinct Etiology Than Colorectal Cancers
ConclusionOur systematic analysis resulted in novel fusion genes in LSTs suggesting a different etiology than CRCs. Fusion transcripts were observed more frequently in non-granular LSTs suggestive of genetically more unstable than granular LST. We hypothesize that NPM1-PTMA and HIST1H2BO-YBX1 could be implicated in LST development and progression and may also serve as a prognostic or diagnostic biomarker in future for better management of LSTs. Borrmann Type Predicts Response to Preoperative Therapy in Advanced Gastric Cancer
ConclusionPatients with Borrmann type 3/4 advanced GC have a lower likelihood of achieving pCR after preoperative therapy than those with type 1/2 GC. Determining the Borrmann type preoperatively can guide treatment decision-making. (Source: Journal of Gastrointestinal Cancer)

Barriers for Participation in the Danish Colorectal Cancer Screening Program: a Qualitative Study
ConclusionAmong the informants included in this study, lack of participation in the CRCS program was not due to an active opt-out, as most informants had intentions of participating. The informants thought it would motivate them to participate if their GP would remind them of the screening program. (Source: Journal of Gastrointestinal Cancer)
