Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy With or Without Transarterial Chemoembolization Versus Transarterial Chemoembolization Alone in Early-Stage Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
ConclusionsTaking into account the limitations of the included studies, our review suggests significantly improved clinical outcomes in all groups having SBRT as a component of treatment versus TACE alone or further TACE. Larger prospective studies are warranted to further define the role of SBRT and TACE for ESHCC. (Source: Journal of Gastrointestinal Cancer)

Evaluation of Depression, Anxiety, and Sexual Function in Rectal Cancer Patients Before and After Neoadjuvant Chemoradiotherapy
ConclusionThis prospective study showed that the patient ’s anxiety and depression levels had decreased during the treatment process probably due to the decrease in the patient’s symptoms. However, deterioration of the sexual function status which might be correlated to increased gastrointestinal side effects during CRT has been observed. So, clinical and psychiatric support including therapies for sexual dysfunctions is needed for LARC patients during and after the neoadjuvant CRT. (Source: Journal of Gastrointestinal Cancer)

Practice Patterns and Survival in Patients with Resected Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinomas (PDAC) — Results from the Multicentre Indian Pancreatic & amp; Periampullary Adenocarcinoma Project (MIPPAP) Study
ConclusionsThe MIPPAP study shows that resectable PDACs in India have survivals at par with previously published data. Adjuvant therapy was administered in 75% patients. Adjuvant radiotherapy does not seem to add to survival after R0 resection. (Source: Journal of Gastrointestinal Cancer)

Survival Benefit with Re-resection and Optimal Time to Re-resection in Gallbladder Cancer: a National Cancer Database Study
ConclusionOptimal timing to re-resection in gallbladder cancer supports previous data showing benefit at  >  4 weeks. However, there was no significant survival difference as to whether re-resection was completed at 5–8 weeks, 9–12 weeks, or >  12 weeks post initial cholecystectomy. Clinical Outcomes for Previously Treated Patients with Advanced Gastric or Gastroesophageal Junction Cancer: A Systematic Literature Review and Meta-Analysis
ConclusionOur study confirms poor prognosis among patients with advanced gastric cancer, following disease progression on first-line therapy. Despite the approved, recommended, and experimental systemic treatments available, there is still an unmet need for novel interventions for this indication. The Effect of RAS/BRAF Mutation Status on Prognosis and Relapse Pattern in Early Stage Colon Cancers
ConclusionThe presence of mutation in early-stage colon cancer is associated with shorter OS and PFS. The mutational status did not have a significant effect on the recurrence pattern. Because of the discordance of early-stage and late-stage mutational status, it is recommended to perform mutation analysis from tissue at relapse. (Source: Journal of Gastrointestinal Cancer)

Specific Intratumor Bacteria Genera and TRG Recombinations Associated with Greater Survival Probability in Alimentary Tract Cancers
ConclusionsThis is the first report of associations between low biomass bacterial samples from primary tumor samples with patient survival and with an increased gamma-delta T cell infiltrate. Results indicate that the gamma-delta T cells potentially play a role in the dynamics of the bacterial infiltration of primary tumors of the alimentary tract.
