Comparing the screening methods for gestational diabetes mellitus before and during the COVID ‐19 pandemic: A systematic review
ConclusionThe new screening methods for GDM have poor accuracy and a high risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes. Comparatively, targeted screening tests to detect GDM according to the risk level are more effective in an emergency. In the future, the alternatives to OGTTs still need to be further explored in more depth. (Source: Journal of Diabetes Investigation)

The role of lipid dysregulation in gestational diabetes mellitus: Early prediction and postpartum prognosis
Lipid dysregulation exhibits a robust association with gestational diabetes (GDM), and the identification of lipid biomarkers has enabled their application in the early prediction of both GDM and the subsequent onset of type 2 diabetes following delivery. ABSTRACTGestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a pathological condition during pregnancy characterized by impaired glucose tolerance, and the failure of pancreatic beta-cells to respond appropriately to an increased insulin demand. However, while the majority of women with GDM will return to normoglycemia after delivery, they have up to a seven times higher risk of develo...

Lipid profile in women of different ethnicity with gestational diabetes: Relationship with fetal growth
ConclusionsOur data show that lipid profiles in women with GDM differ by ethnicity. The impact of lipid profile on fetal growth is limited and uninfluenced by ethnicity. (Source: Journal of Diabetes Investigation)

Decline in measured glomerular filtration rate is associated with simple renal cyst in Chinese patients with type  2 diabetes
ConclusionSRC is an independent risk factor for the decrease of mGFR in Chinese diabetes patients, and could affect the renal GFR measured by dynamic renal scintigraphy on the SRC side. (Source: Journal of Diabetes Investigation)

A case of type  2 diabetes mellitus with weight gain and worsening of glycemic management after tezepelumab administration for severe bronchial asthma
Patients with type  2 diabetes mellitus complicated by refractory severe asthma were treated with tezepelumab, an anti-thymic stromal lymphopoietin antibody. The requirement of prednisolone due to asthma exacerbation was decreased, but the patient showed worsening of glycemic management, increased insulin requiremen t and weight gain. When administering tezepelumab to patients with asthma complicating type 2 diabetes, careful follow up regarding glycemic management and weight might be necessary. AbstractSome cases of bronchial asthma are refractory to conventional therapies. As the pathogenesis of bronchial asthma has ...

Recurrent hypoglycemia induced by clopidogrel: A case report and mini review
This report describes a patient who developed recurrent hypoglycemia episodes after 23  days of antiplatelet therapy with clopidogrel for left subclavian artery stent implantation. The patient suffered from palpitation, profuse sweating and weakness on the 23rd day of clopidogrel treatment. The minimum plasma glucose was 2.2 mmol/L, and the hypoglycemia was associated with signifi cantly elevated levels of insulin. A diagnosis of insulin autoimmune syndrome (IAS) was made with the presence of insulin autoantibody and a comprehensive differential diagnosis of other conditions related with hypoglycemia. Clopidogrel was s...

Association of RPS26 gene polymorphism with different types of diabetes in Chinese individuals
ConclusionsTheRPS26 polymorphism was associated with susceptibility and clinical characteristics of type  1 diabetes mellitus and LADA in the Chinese population, but was not related to type 2 diabetes mellitus. Thus, it might serve as a novel biomarker for particular types of diabetes. (Source: Journal of Diabetes Investigation)

METTL3/YTHDF2 m6A axis mediates the progression of diabetic nephropathy through epigenetically suppressing PINK1 and mitophagy
ConclusionsMETTL3 silencing could inhibit the progression of diabetic nephropathyin vivo andin vitro by regulating the m6A modification of PINK1, which depends on YTHDF2. Our research lays the theoretical foundation for the precise treatment of diabetic kidney disease and the development of targeted drugs in the future. (Source: Journal of Diabetes Investigation)
