Current understanding of imeglimin action on pancreatic β‐cells: Involvement of mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum homeostasis
Recent preclinical studies have provided insight on imeglimin's action on pancreatic β-cells and the mechanisms underlying its clinical benefits. Imeglimin may enhance glucose-induced insulin secretion (GIIS) and inhibit apoptosis of pancreatic ß-cells leading to preserved β-cell mass by maintaining or restoring the functional and structural integrity of the mitochondria and the endoplasmic reticulum homeostasis in pancreatic β-cells. Immediate effect of textured insoles on the balance in patients with diabetic neuropathy
ConclusionsWearing textured insoles can increase the balance in patients with diabetic neuropathy. This can be due to its effect on the sensory feedback of the soles,  improving the proprioception and tactile sensors that are the main sources of balance. (Source: Journal of Diabetes Investigation)

Interaction among dietary n ‐3 and n‐6 polyunsaturated fatty acid intake, fatty acid desaturase 2 genetic variants, and low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol levels in type 2 diabetes patients
ConclusionsOur results show the role of n-3/n-6 dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids in modifying the effects of genetic susceptibility on lipoprotein concentrations in patients with type  2 diabetes. Our findings highlight the potential of interventions with dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids regarding developing individualized prevention strategies for type 2 diabetes presenting with co-occurring dyslipidemia and cardiovascular diseases. Association between serum gamma glutamyl transferase and fasting blood glucose in Chinese people: A 6 ‐year follow‐up study
ConclusionsThe annual mean increase in FBG levels showed a positive relationship with baseline GGT levels. Higher baseline GGT levels resulted in a faster annual mean increase in FBG. Thus, GGT can be used for the early detection of FBG-related disorders of glucose metabolism for clinical application. (Source: Journal of Diabetes Investigation)
