Left ventricular mechanical dyssynchrony after chemotherapy in breast cancer patients with normal rest gated SPECT-MPI
ConclusionUsing phase analysis of gated SPECT-MPI, chemotherapy-induced LVD was seen in a significant number of patients with breast cancer, especially with a high cumulative dose of doxorubicin. LVD might indicate chemotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity before LVEF becomes abnormal. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

The value of 18F-FDG PET/CT in Langerhans cell histiocytosis
Conclusions18F-FDG PET/CT is an effective way to diagnose and evaluate LCH. PET metabolic parameters were associated with laboratory inflammatory markers, suggesting that 18F-FDG PET/CT may be helpful in evaluating disease activity of LCH. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

Optimized gated a SPECT-derived myocardial salvage index: its prognostic significance in predicting major adverse cardiac events following acute myocardial infarction percussion
ConclusionThe MSI obtained from a simple GSMPI early after PCI, using the scoring evaluation method, was a reliable prognostic indicator for predicting LVEF improvement and MACEs in AMI. It remarkably improved the prognostic value compared with the previous reference methods. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

Deep learning approach using SPECT-to-PET translation for attenuation correction in CT-less myocardial perfusion SPECT imaging
ConclusionsOur PET-supervised deep learning model is a new approach to correct well-known inferior wall attenuation in SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging. As standalone SPECT systems are used worldwide, the SPECTSPT generation model may be applied as a low-cost and practical clinical tool that provides powerful auxiliary information for the diagnosis of myocardial blood flow. Development and application of a fully automatic multi-function cassette module Mortenon M1 for radiopharmaceutical synthesis
ConclusionThis study demonstrated that the full-automatic module system Mortenon M1 is efficient for radiolabeling synthesis of both small-molecule and macromolecular substrates. It may be helpful to reduce radiation exposure for safety, provide qualified radiolabeled products and reliable PET diagnosis, and ensure stable production and supply of radiopharmaceuticals. Impact of preoperative [18F]FDG PET/CT vs. contrast-enhanced CT in the staging and survival of patients with clinical stage I and II non-small cell lung cancer: a 10-year follow-up study
ConclusionAddition of preoperative [18F]FDG PET/CT was associated with superior DFS and OS in resectable cI –II NSCLC, which may result from accurate staging and stage-appropriate therapy. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

Comparison of absorbed doses to the tumoral and non-tumoral liver in HCC patients undergoing 99mTc-MAA and 90Y-microspheres radioembolization
ConclusionThis study provides evidence that the administered activity of90Y-microspheres, as estimated from90Y-bremsstrahlung SPECT/CT, was significantly higher than that estimated from99mTc-MAA SPECT/CT resulted in increased absorbed doses in both the tumoral-liver and non-tumoral liver. However,99mTc-MAA SPECT/CT remains a valuable planning tool for predicting the distribution of90Y-microspheres in liver cancer treatment. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

The quest for multifunctional and dedicated PET instrumentation with irregular geometries
AbstractWe focus on reviewing state-of-the-art developments of dedicated PET scanners with irregular geometries and the potential of different aspects of multifunctional PET imaging. First, we discuss advances in non-conventional PET detector geometries. Then, we present innovative designs of organ-specific dedicated PET scanners for breast, brain, prostate, and cardiac imaging. We will also review challenges and possible artifacts by image reconstruction algorithms for PET scanners with irregular geometries, such as non-cylindrical and partial angular coverage geometries and how they can be addressed. Then, we attempt to ...

Comparative study of physiological FDG uptake in small structures between silicon photomultiplier-based PET and conventional PET
ConclusionsThe physiological uptake in the small structures studied herein showed high accumulation on SiPM-PET. Our results also suggest that the thresholds reported for cPET to distinguish pathological accumulations likely lead to false-positive findings in SIPM-PET evaluations. [18F]-FDG uptake in brain slices prepared from an aged mouse model of Alzheimer ’s disease using a dynamic autoradiography technique
ConclusionNeuronal damage, and induction of neuronal apoptosis, decreased [18F]-FDG uptake, increased A β accumulation and P-tau induced neurofibrillary degeneration are observed in AD mouse. In clinical diagnosis, reduction of [18F]-FDG uptake by PET is one of the means of diagnosing the onset of AD. Our results suggest that decreased uptake of [18F]-FDG in the brains of AD may be associated with neuronal dysfunction and cell death in the brain. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)
