Inferences of SPECT renal dynamic imaging injection quality based on lung and abdominal aorta imaging features
ConclusionsThe times of appearance and regression of the lung shadows and the peak time and peak count ratio in the abdominal aorta in the dynamic renal imaging perfusion phase can help assess the imaging agent injection quality and identify the need for a repeated examination. Improving the imaging agent injection quality can effectively reduce the renal function misdiagnosis rate. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

Performance of digital PET/CT compared with conventional PET/CT in oncologic patients: a prospective comparison study
ConclusionsDPET scanners in combination with high-resolution reconstructions clinically outperform cPET scanners with both high- and standard-resolution reconstructions as the PET readers identified more FDG-avid lesions, their diagnostic confidence was increased, and they visually preferred dPET. However, when dPET was made first, high-resolution dPET and high-resolution cPET showed similar performance, indicating the positive effect of a prolonged FDG uptake time. Therefore, high-resolution cPET in combination with a prolonged FDG uptake time can be considered as an alternative.Graphical abstract (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

Performance evaluation of dedicated brain PET scanner with motion correction system
ConclusionsThe reconstructed images using MC were restored to their nearly identical state as those at rest. Therefore, it is concluded that this scanner can observe more natural brain activity. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

Prediction of multivessel coronary artery disease and candidates for stress-only imaging using multivariable models with myocardial perfusion imaging
ConclusionA model analysis combining myocardial SPECT and clinical data can predict MVD, and can select patients for stress-only tests. Our models should prove useful for clinical applications. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

Evaluation of physiological Waldeyer ’s ring, mediastinal blood pool, thymic, bone marrow, splenic and hepatic activity with 18F-FDG PET/CT: exploration of normal range among pediatric patients
ConclusionsReferral organs18F-FDG uptake varies in children more in relation with weight and BSA than with age for key referral organs, such as L, S and MBP. In a significant number of studies, L activity may impede evaluation of treatment response in comparison with MBP or inflammation/infection evaluation in comparison with S. Shine-through artifact due to high-radioactivity bladder and bowel gas in 18F-FDG PET/CT: impact of time-of-flight algorithm and radioactivity concentration of urine in the bladder on the occurrence of the artifacts
ConclusionShine-through artifacts were observed in approximately 10% of clinical18F-FDG PET/CT examinations. Their magnitude is significantly associated with the radioactivity in the bladder and can be reduced by employing TOF. Recognizing this artifact allows for a more accurate interpretation of18F-FDG pelvic studies. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

Brain partial volume correction with point spreading function reconstruction in high-resolution digital PET: comparison with an MR-based method in FDG imaging
ConclusionWith the latest digital PET scanner, PSF reconstruction can be used as a PVC technique in brain PET, albeit with suboptimal resolution recovery. A relative advantage of PSF reconstruction is that it can be applied not only to cerebral cortical regions, but also to various small structures such as small brain nuclei that are hardly visualized on anatomical T1-weighted imaging, and thus hardly recovered by MR-based PVC. [68Ga]Ga-NODAGAZOL uptake in atherosclerotic plaques correlates with the cardiovascular risk profile of patients
ConclusionIn this cohort of patients, a positive correlation was noted between atherosclerotic plaque uptake of [68Ga]Ga-NODAGAZOL and the number of atherogenic risk factors which translates to the risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular risk factors. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

Physiological background parenchymal uptake of 18F-FDG in normal breast tissues using dedicated breast PET: correlation with mammographic breast composition, menopausal status, and menstrual cycle
ConclusionsBPU in normal breast tissues assessed using ring-shaped dbPET was associated with mammographic density, menopausal status, and women ’s menstrual cycle. The menstrual cycle was significantly associated with BPU in premenopausal women with dense breasts but not in women with non-dense breasts. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

Impact of patient body habitus on image quality and quantitative value in bone SPECT/CT
ConclusionsPatient body habitus significantly affects image quality and decreases the quantitative value in bone SPECT/CT. For the optimization, extend acquisition time according to the patient body habitus is effective for image quality. And for the standardization, it is important to achieve imaging conditions that meet the Japanese bone SPECT guidelines criteria to ensure adequate detectability. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)
