Long-term effects of radioiodine treatment on thyroid functions and ultrasonographic features in patients with toxic adenoma and toxic multinodular goitre
ConclusionsThe volume of thyroid gland and toxic nodules continuously decreases, as the risk of hypothyroidism increases up to 10  years after RAI treatment. After RAI treatment, patients should be followed up to check their thyroid functions. In post-RAI examinations, toxic nodules may show ultrasonographic features suspicious for malignancy. History taking should include previous RAI therapies and old scintigraphy scans sho uld be evaluated to avoid unnecessary procedures and non-diagnostic biopsy results. Brain imaging of sequential acquisition using a flexible PET scanner and 3-T MRI: quantitative and qualitative assessment
ConclusionsfxPET could successfully determine physiological [18F]FDG uptake; however, improved image clarity is desirable. In this study, fxPET/MRI at 3-T was feasible for brain imaging. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

Feasibility of whole-body 2-deoxy-2-[18F]fluoro-d-glucose positron emission tomography angiography using continuous bed motion in patients with vascular disease: a pilot study
ConclusionsWhole-body PET angiography showed a better image quality for the neck-to-chest and pelvic regions in this setting, although it provided limited information on the vessels in the abdominal region. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

Brown tumors in nuclear medicine: a systematic review
AbstractBrown tumors (BT) are abnormal bone-repair processes and a consequence of hyperparathyroidism. The diagnosis of these lytic lesions in nuclear medicine, while a challenge, is not so rare, because functional imaging is used both in the management of cancer and hyperparathyroidism. The main objective of this review is to summarize the knowledge and the evidence concerning BT and the different imaging modalities in nuclear medicine. A systematic review was performed in Embase, PubMed and Google Scholar from 2005 to 2022. We included articles describing BT in the following imaging modalities: [18F]-fluorodeoxyglucose P...

Impact of the new ultra-high sensitivity mode in a long axial field-of-view PET/CT
ConclusionUHS showed significantly higher SNR opening the possibility of halving short acquisition times. This is of advantage in further reduction of whole-body PET/CT acquisition. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

Radiation dosimetry and pharmacokinetics of the tau PET tracer florzolotau (18F) in healthy Japanese subjects
ConclusionFlorzolotau intravenous injection was well tolerated in healthy male Japanese subjects. The effective dose was determined as 3.61  mSv when 185 MBq florzolotau was given. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

A preliminary study of dobutamine myocardial flow reserve on 99mTc-Sestamibi CZT-SPECT
ConclusionMBF and MFR can be measured using dobutamine99mTc -MIBI CZT-SPECT. In small sample single-center study, there was a difference in MFR produced by adenosine and dobutamine within the suspected or the known CAD population. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

Prognosis of thyroid carcinoma patients with osseous metastases: an SEER-based study with machine learning
ConclusionsRF model shall be used to establish an accurate prognostic model for thyroid cancer patients with OM, not only from the SEER cohort but also intended for all thyroid cancer patients in the general population, which may be applicable in clinical practice in the future.
