Concerns With Analysis in Study of Tecovirimat for Mpox Among People With HIV —Reply
In Reply We appreciate the Letter to the Editor by Ting et al in response to our matched cohort study. Although propensity score methods to account for confounding in observational cohorts are well recognized, we acknowledge that there are several ways (each with pros and cons) that the scores can be utilized for data analysis. We opted for 1:1 propensity score matching due in part to the transparency it affords when communicating the ultimate result via the McNemar test. Standardized mortality ratios rely on comparison of a study population with the known generalized rate of the outcome of interest. This would be impracti...

Concerns With Analysis in Study of Tecovirimat for Mpox Among People With HIV
To the Editor In a recent cohort study, Aldred et al found that early tecovirimat treatment within 7 days of symptoms was associated with reduced progression of mpox disease in people with HIV. The authors recommend initiating early tecovirimat treatment for all patients with HIV and immunocompromised status or mucosal site involvement. (Source: JAMA Internal Medicine)

Heat shock protein-related diagnostic signature and molecular subtypes in ankylosing spondylitis: new pathogenesis insights
Int J Hyperthermia. 2024;41(1):2336149. doi: 10.1080/02656736.2024.2336149. Epub 2024 Apr 28.ABSTRACTHeat shock proteins (HSP) have been associated with a range of persistent inflammatory disorders; however, little research has been conducted on the involvement of HSP in the development of ankylosing spondylitis (AS). The research aims to identify a diagnostic signature based on HSP-related genes and determine the molecular subtypes of AS. We gathered the transcriptional data of patients with AS from the GSE73754 dataset and conducted a literature search for HSP-related genes (HRGs). The logistic regression model was utili...

Translation into French and republication of: "Anticoagulant treatment of cancer-associated thromboembolism"
Rev Med Interne. 2024 Apr 26:S0248-8663(24)00097-3. doi: 10.1016/j.revmed.2024.04.004. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTVenous thromboembolism (VTE) is a frequent and potentially fatal complication in patients with cancer. During the initial period after the thromboembolic event, a patient receiving anticoagulant treatment is exposed both to a risk of VTE recurrence and also to an elevated bleeding risk conferred by the treatment. For this reason, the choice of anticoagulant is critical. The choice should take into account patient-related factors (such as functional status, age, body mass index, platelet count and renal funct...
