Is cognitive behavioral therapy more effective than pharmacotherapy for binge spectrum disorders? A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Data are scarce, comparisons underpowered and, considering the inherent methodological limitations of psychotherapy trials, questions arise regarding the presumed superiority of cognitive behavioral therapy. Further research is needed.PMID:38179705 | DOI:10.1177/00048674231219593 (Source: The Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry)

Evaluation of the passive permeability of antidepressants through pore-suspended lipid bilayer
Colloids Surf B Biointerfaces. 2023 Dec 7;234:113688. doi: 10.1016/j.colsurfb.2023.113688. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHYPOTHESIS: The antidepressant drug imipramine, and its metabolite desipramine show different extents of interaction with, and passive permeation through, cellular membrane models, with the effects depending on the membrane composition. Through multimodal interrogation, we can observe that the drugs have a direct impact on the physicochemical properties of the membrane, that may play a role in their pharmacokinetics.EXPERIMENTS: Microcavity pore-suspended lipid bilayers (MSLBs) of four different composit...

Efficacy of pharmacotherapies for bulimia nervosa: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: This meta-analysis indicates that most pharmacotherapies decreased the frequency of binge-eating and vomiting episodes, body weight, and depressive symptoms in BN patients, but the efficacy was not significant. In each drug the efficacy is different, treating different aspects, different symptoms to improve the clinical performance of bulimia nervosa.PMID:38042827 | DOI:10.1186/s40360-023-00713-7 (Source: BMC Pharmacology and Toxicology)
