Two Symptom Clusters Identified in Patients with Acute Heart Failure
According to this study: Two distinct symptom clusters were identified in patients with acute heart failure: one with severe congestion and the other with mild congestion.Identification of these symptom clusters in the ED could help with symptom management, patient triage, diagnosis, and self-care at home.PMID:38661705 | DOI:10.1097/01.NAJ.0001016392.13580.5b (Source: The American Journal of Nursing)

Wnt Signaling Inhibition Prevents Postnatal Inflammation and Disease Progression in Mouse Congenital Myxomatous Valve Disease
CONCLUSIONS: Wnt signaling is involved in the initiation of mitral valve abnormalities and inflammation but is not responsible for later-stage valve disease progression once it has been initiated. Thus, Wnt signaling contributes to MVD progression in a time-dependent manner and provides a promising therapeutic target for the early treatment of congenital MVD in Marfan syndrome.PMID:38660802 | DOI:10.1161/ATVBAHA.123.320388 (Source: Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology)

Conceptual Approach to Body Fluids and Edema, Education  Determines Clinical Outcomes in Heart Failure
Iran J Kidney Dis. 2024 Mar;18(2):65-67. doi: 10.5254/1aytkx77.ABSTRACTIn this brief communication, we reemphasize the importance of critical thinking in clinical practice using the example of edema. The common practice of thinking and inquiry by practicing clinicians has beneficial implications for healthcare by improving outcomes and patient care while alleviating the burden of misconceptions in practice. We provide an in-depth and interactive investigation of physiological concepts as a foundation for understanding body fluid dynamics. Finally, we offer a new classification of symptoms of heart failure. DOI: 10.52547/ij...

Growth differentiation factor-15 serum concentrations reflect disease severity and anemia in patients with inflammatory bowel disease
CONCLUSION: For the first time, we demonstrated that serum concentrations of GDF-15 are elevated in patients with IBD in comparison to healthy controls, and the results imply that GDF-15 might be involved in IBD pathophysiology. Yet, it remains elusive whether GDF-15 could serve as a prognostic indicator in these patients.PMID:38659482 | PMC:PMC11036493 | DOI:10.3748/wjg.v30.i13.1899 (Source: World Journal of Gastroenterology)
