The association of socioeconomic status on kidney transplant access and outcomes: a nationwide cohort study in Taiwan
CONCLUSION: A relevant disparity exists in accessing kidney transplantation in Taiwan, depending on individual and neighborhood socioeconomic status. However, results post transplantation were not different after five years. Improved access to waitlisting, education, and welfare support may reduce disparities.PMID:38635122 | DOI:10.1007/s40620-024-01928-5 (Source: Journal of Nephrology)

Impact of an expanded reimbursement policy on utilization of implantable loop recorders in patients with cryptogenic stroke in Korea
CONCLUSIONS: The expanded coverage policy for CS had a significant impact on the number of ILR implantation for CS indication. The diagnostic yield of ILR for AF/AFL detection seems better when ILR is implanted within 2 months than later. Further investigation is needed to demonstrate other clinical benefits and the optimal ILR implantation timing.PMID:38632895 | DOI:10.3904/kjim.2023.479 (Source: The Korean Journal of Internal Medicine)

Identifying predictors of COVID-related delays in cancer-specific medical care
CONCLUSION: These findings may inform cancer care delivery during periods of instability when treatment may be disrupted by informing clinicians about concerns that patients have during the treatment process. Future research should assess whether delays in cancer care impact long-term cancer outcomes and whether delays exacerbate existing disparities in cancer outcomes.PMID:38629238 | DOI:10.1002/cam4.7183 (Source: Cancer Control)

Evaluating Linkage Quality of Population-Based Administrative Data for Health Service Research
CONCLUSION: This study confirms the possibility of building health and medical data at the national level as the first data linkage quality verification study using big data from the HIRA. Analyzing the quality of linkages is crucial for comprehending linkage errors and generating reliable analytical outcomes. Linkers should increase the reliability of linked data by providing linkage error-related information to researchers. The results of this study will serve as reference data to increase the reliability of multicenter data linkage studies.PMID:38622936 | DOI:10.3346/jkms.2024.39.e127 (Source: J Korean Med Sci)

Barriers to Cervical Cancer Screening by Sexual Orientation Among Low-Income Women in North Carolina
Arch Sex Behav. 2024 Apr 16. doi: 10.1007/s10508-024-02844-2. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWe sought to examine cervical cancer screening barriers by sexual orientation among low-income women in North Carolina. The MyBodyMyTest-3 Trial recruited low-income women (< 250% of federal poverty level) aged 25-64 years who were 1+ year overdue for cervical cancer screening. We compared perceptions of cervical cancer screening among those who self-identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or queer (LGBQ; n = 70) to straight/heterosexual women (n = 683). For both LGBQ and straight respondents, the greatest barriers to screening wer...
