IJERPH, Vol. 21, Pages 546: Investigating the Barriers and Facilitators to Using Antiretroviral Therapy among Women Living with HIV in Plateau State, Nigeria
Conclusion: This study underscores the significance of maintaining a positive perspective on ART use, demonstrated by the connection between a positive outlook and weight gain, and highlights the hurdles that Plateau State’s women living with HIV face in adhering to antiretroviral therapy. Policymakers and healthcare providers can utilize these findings to formulate targeted strategies aimed at minimizing identified barriers and enhancing antiretroviral therapy utilization among this population via peer- support groups, economic empowerment, and psychosocial support. Clinical-based phenotypes in children with pediatric post-COVID-19 condition
CONCLUSIONS: This study identified three distinct clinical PPCC phenotypes, with variations in sex, age, symptom patterns, and impact on daily life. These findings highlight the need for further research to understand the potentially diverse underlying mechanisms contributing to post-COVID symptoms in children.PMID:38664324 | DOI:10.1007/s12519-024-00805-2 (Source: World Journal of Pediatrics : WJP)

A rare case of congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis
Paediatr Int Child Health. 2024 Apr 24:1-4. doi: 10.1080/20469047.2024.2344879. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA 22-month-old girl of consanguineous parents was admitted with a high-grade fever. She was found to have insensitivity to painful stimuli and an absence of perspiration. She also displayed self-mutilating behaviour and was insensitive to cold/hot water on her body. On examination, there was loss of the tip of the tongue, missing teeth, generalised xerosis, and several ulcers at sites of minor trauma. She also had dysplastic nails and digital ulcers. Sensory examination demonstrated a complete lack of awareness of ...

Radiological features and treatment of erupting maxillary canines in relation to the occurrence of dental developmental abnormalities
CONCLUSIONS: The children with dental developmental abnormalities more often showed evidence of early treatment for the canines. Monitoring of the erupting canines after the first mixed stage is important to enable timely early treatment.PMID:38661111 | DOI:10.2340/aos.v83.40488 (Source: Acta Odontologica Scandinavica)

Identification of sensitive endpoints for the assessment of phthalates-induced reproductive and developmental toxicity: a literature mining study
Food Chem Toxicol. 2024 Apr 23:114686. doi: 10.1016/j.fct.2024.114686. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDibutyl phthalate (DBP) and di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), two common types of phthalates, are known to cause reproductive and developmental toxicity in animals and humans. The reference doses (RfD) of DBP and DEHP should be determined by sensitive endpoints. We here aimed to identify sensitive endpoints for DBP- and DEHP-induced such toxicity using published literatures. By examining the impacts of maternal exposure to DBP or DEHP on anogenital distance (AGD) and semen quality of offspring, we discovered that DBP or DE...
