Bio-evaluations of sericin coated hesperidin nanoparticles for gastric ulcer management
Colloids Surf B Biointerfaces. 2024 Feb;234:113762. doi: 10.1016/j.colsurfb.2024.113762. Epub 2024 Jan 17.ABSTRACTGastric ulcers are worrying, and their worsening conditions may result in bleeding in the internal lining of the stomach. The problem is annoying, and both patients and professionals are still not satisfied with the available treatment options. Hesperidin, a flavonoid molecule with potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, can work like witchcraft to repair gastric ulcers and preserve the stomach lining. Here, we employed a strategy that involved covering the surface of the nano-lipid carriers (NLCs) wi...

Neuropeptide W facilitates chronic gastric ulcer healing by the regulation of cyclooxygenase and NF- κB signaling pathways
In conclusion, NPW facilitated the healing of gastric injury in rats via the inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokine production, oxidative stress and neutrophil infiltration as well as the downregulation of COX-2 protein and NF- κB gene expressions. (Source: Inflammopharmacology)

The Multi-dimensional Challenge of Poor Oral Health in Cirrhosis —Disparities and Solutions
Mr K is a 67-year-old military veteran with decompensated alcohol-related cirrhosis with ascites, as well as hepatic encephalopathy (HE), and was admitted to intensive care because of melena. Upper endoscopy revealed multiple oozing gastric ulcers without varices. On questioning after stabilization, the patient admitted to taking over-the-counter nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) owing to severe gum and tooth pain. He was ineligible for Veterans Affairs –based dental coverage and could not afford private dental care. (Source: Gastroenterology)

Natural Underwater Bioadhesive Offering Cohesion Modulation via Hydrogen Bond Disruptor: A Highly Injectable and in Vivo Stable Remedy for Gastric Ulcer Resolution
This study presents a novel approach to developing injectable bioadhesives for gastric ulcer management. By incorporating a hydrogen bond disruptor into the silk fibroin-tannic acid adhesive, the bioadhesive achieves controlled cohesion, ensuring both high injectability and in vivo stability. Validated in vitro and in vivo, this strategy offers a biocompatible, long-lasting solution using natural sources for effective minimally invasive application. AbstractInjectable bioadhesives are attractive for managing gastric ulcers through minimally invasive procedures. However, the formidable challenge is to develop bioadhesives t...

Protective effect of barbigerone against ethanol-induced ulcers via the interleukins/ICAM-1/Bcl-2 pathway
CONCLUSIONS: Barbigerone protective effects can be attributed to its ability to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, as well as promote gastroprotection against ethanol-induced ulcers in rats.PMID:38164865 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202312_34801 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

Measured levels of positive transglutaminase 2 antibodies are not associated with presentation or incidental endoscopic findings at celiac disease diagnosis
CONCLUSIONS: Presentation was similar in patients with moderate or high levels of TGA, whereas patients with negative TGA were different. The level of TGA was not associated with incidental endoscopic findings and the only malignancy presented with an alarm symptom atypical to celiac disease.PMID:38164975 | DOI:10.1080/00365521.2023.2298709 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology)

Long-Term Survival and Cancer Risk in the Hepatitis C Virus-Infected Patients After Antiviral Treatment: A Nationwide Cohort Study
Conclusion: Following antiviral therapy, women appear to have a more substantial preventive impact than men against pancreatic, colorectal, and lung cancer. Interferon or DAAs treatment effect was more significant in the cirrhotic group.PMID:38164272 | PMC:PMC10751673 | DOI:10.7150/jca.87259 (Source: Cancer Control)
