Match / Research Year Advice
Hey all, I'd appreciate some advice. I'm an MS3 planning on ophtho. With the if way funding works at my school (mid-tier MD), I would need to apply relatively soon if I'm going to take a research year between MS3 and MS4. With how competitive ophtho has been the past few cycles I've been wondering if maybe I should do it. It'd strongly be my preference not to do a research year if y'all think I'm a competitive applicant (older student, salary opportunity cost, etc.), but I'd be willing to... What should I be doing in grad school based on my goals?
Good afternoon all, After lurking this forum for many years while completing my undergraduate, I was accepted into a graduate program in clinical psychology, and my first subjectively post-worthy question has arisen. I am in a Canadian program, where technically I am an MSc student, before being allowed to carry on with my doctorate. I received funding (18,500/year) for my master's research but have to re-apply for federal funding for my Ph.D., which is significantly more lucrative... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Rutgers PSYD Programs/other fully funded programs
Hey, I know that Rutgers' PSYD program is partially funded, but I am not able to find any information online about how much the program is for an out of state student and how much funding is given. Also, are there any other fully/partially funded programs anyone knows about other than Rutgers/Baylor? I heard something about IUP but am not completely sure, so if someone could give me more information that would be great! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

5 days a week ?
Hey everyone, I'm a 3rd year fellow starting to get into the thick of some interviews, without any solid offers yet, but I'm thinking about a community gig vs academic clinician one and was hoping for some input. I'm not that interested in trials or pursuing grant funding, and am primarily interested in delivering good clinical care, subspecialty focus a plus. Community: - 5 days/week seeing patients, but seems maybe 12-15 patients a day - ability to subspecialize, with some... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

medicare funding for GME nuances
If one matches for an IM prelim year medicare funds 3 years of GME. What happens if, after finishing the prelim year, one wants to pursue graduate research work for several years? I imagine that there is a time limit for which to use these allocated funds. Another way to state this question is, do the 3 years of medicare funding have to be continuous? Can one take a "leave" and then come back for 2 years with the gov't funding still there? I realize that all this may change, but... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UNE relying on Corporate grants
Just going to leave this here. UNE can’t fill their class so now it looks like they are going to rely on funding from corporations to get bodies in seats. I am all about finding opportunities for immigrants/minorities. However, when current students are coming out with $200k-300k in student loans and never find jobs in pharmacy this seems to be a way to sucker more students into pharmacy and continue to flood the market...
