MD-PhD - Fears of GPA and previous Majors holding me back
Hello everyone!
So I have changed majors quite a few times over my long years in college. I have switched from Network Security to Computer Science before finding my passion in Chemistry where I had earned my first degree. I was in the process of earning my PhD in Chemistry when COVID-19 hit and layoffs occurred (funding dried up and I can't work for free). As I was stuck in a location where I could not use my degree and could not afford to move thanks to student loans, I eventually found...

Penn State vs. MUSC
Hello everyone. If tuition cost/ties to area/area itself all aren't factors of concern for me - what would you do? I am incredibly interested in doing dermatology (what ultimately matters to me most). I want to set myself up for having the greatest potential for success. Thanks!
MUSC
Pros
World News Rank: 56/ PD ranking list ~59-63
Higher ranked in research/ more research funding according to US world news
Highly ranked doximity dermatology residency program...

OHSU Clinical Psychology PhD
I know there was an older post 3 years back regarding this newer program which is applying for APA accreditation on contingency soon. I remember the sentiment was pretty optimistic and I just wanted to get some updated insight from those in the field if it might be worth applying to, even though normally I wouldn't remotely consider applying to a new program applying for accreditation?
Its funding seems very solid as do the names associated with the program. I'm a RA at a VAMC right now and...

Rush (no scholarship) vs Loyola (scholarship)
Rush Medical College
Pros

Explaining why I quit my clinical activity in reapp?
Most ADCOMs like to see longevity in clinical volunteering but do I need to explain why I had to stop my main clinical volunteering (and most meaningful experience) and start a new one?
I was volunteering at an inpatient hospice, but they closed due to funding and relocated to another hospital further away. So I had to stop going due to distance and scheduling issues.
If I have to reapply this year should I explain in that activity why I stopped and started a new clinical activity? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

First author projects in undergrad funding?
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone had experience applying for research funding in undergrad. I know there are a decent amount of people who are able to lead their own projects in a lab, but I was wondering where you guys got the funding for this? I have tried searching extensively online for grants meant for undergrads, but have been unsuccessful.
Would appreciate if any of you can lead me in right direction.
(Note: Asking because my PI suggested I find some small grants to apply...
