Armed Forces HPSP in clinical psychology
Hello community – I am hoping to get feedback from current or prior recipients of the HPSP on the following points: - What were the reasons for selecting the military branch (Army, Navy, AF) that you did? - How competitive was the selection process? - When is the best time to apply: at time of program application, upon acceptance, at some point after matriculation? - What are some pros/cons of funding your training through the HPSP? - Is there an age limit for the scholarship candidates +... Is it a good idea to get a master's before a Ph.D. in clinical psychology instead of being an RA/lab manager due to the climate of the country (US)?
With labs possibly losing funding due to COVID and research possibly not happening on campuses, I'm worried about being able to find a research position. I have 2 years of research experience and 2 poster presentations and I just graduated with a 3.5 in Psych. The goal was to find an R.A. position and work before applying to Ph.D. programs but a few lab managers emailed me that because they were unsure of funding and if they would be on campus that they would hold off on the hiring process... GME funding for Perio residencies
Hey guys. Why is it that some perio residencies get GME funding and some do not? Is it because certain programs have components with affiliated hospitals vs. being dental school based? Does the GME money only come from Medicare or Medicaid or where, or on a state-by-state basis ? Or if a university based program works with a VA too ? I am trying to see if there is any way that dental school based periodontics residencies with tuition will be able to get any GME funding at all for their... What makes UCSF so unique?
Hi, I don't mean to sound ignorant but I'm genuinely curious -- what exactly makes UCSF dental school so unique besides the name value? I know it is a really amazing research school and it receives a lot of NIH funding but what makes them so top-notch? Besides research, is there anything in the curriculum/opportunities offered that makes the school stand out? For example, UPenn has the Selectives Program that basically offers a bunch of unique/extraneous courses outside of the traditional... What makes UCSF so unique? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

mdphdinfo.com : Website Compiling National MST Program Data
Used the downtime with everything being virtual to put together a program with a bunch of data about all MSTPs. Included in the data is summary info on application/matriculant numbers, reported GPA/MCAT, stipend, residency match lists, etc. I hope to continuously update the information and ideally would receive new info in a crowdsourced manner/from programs directly. If you are considering applying, check out the resources section and trainees may want to look at the funding opportunities... mdphdinfo.com : Website Compiling National MST Program Data (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Funding for residency
Hello, I am currently a PGY1 (I would have been starting my dermatology residency in July) however the spot is privately funded. Unfortunately, given the COVID pandemic the funding for the spot has dried up and I likely won't be able to start in July. Does anybody have any thoughts/ideas on how to get my (as well as my co-residents) spots? Thank you (Source: Student Doctor Network)

PPP Approved - Take the funds?
So my LLC was approved for $16665 by the SBA - the funds should be arriving in a couple of days. My question is whether to proceed with taking this funding as the guidelines require that the loan is "necessary to support the ongoing operations of the business". My hours in May decreased as an indirect effect of Corona. Subsequently the revenue decreases from 37.5k monthly revenue to 15.6k revenue for the month of June (which is payment for May's shifts). June onwards my number of shifts... PPP Approved - Take the funds? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Independent Physicians being denied Paycheck Protection Program?
Doctor's offices being denied special small business loans Crucial small businesses have consistently failed to get funding under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), including doctor’s offices. www.kxxv.com "Many banks prioritized big bucks for big chains, like $20 million for Ruth’s Chris Steak House and $10 million for Shake Shack. A loophole in the program categorized those companies as a small businesses based on the number of workers at an individual location." (Source: Student Doctor Network)
