Applying to Funded MSWs alongside PhDs?
So, it's occurred to me that I really don't know how much "I have in me" if I don't get in this cycle to continue the post-bac life. There's a high probability that funding gets pulled for the study that's funding my paycheck, this loss of funding would occur this summer. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of being primarily a researcher, but I honestly have considered that I'd probably have a happy and fulfilling life as a master's level clinician carving out a niche as well.
I'm...

Funding from Canadian banks for my D.O program in the U.S
Hey everyone, I am having trouble securing a line of credit because I can't seem to convince the employees at TD and Scotiabank that the D.O program I got accepted to (RVUCOM-CO) is an actual medical school.
There are no osteopathic medical schools in Canada, and they continue to confuse osteopathic medical doctors with manual osteopathy. Without a student line of credit, I won't be able to attend the medical school in the States.
Has anyone been through this personally, and has advice or...

Differences between NIH K Awards and VA CDA
I was recently asked by a student what are the primary differences, if any, between NIH K Awards and VA CDA. I have limited experience with the VA and never even considered it when going after such funding, so I didn't have a serviceable response. Can anyone provide information on the key differences between these mechanisms? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Mt. Sinai Psychiatry is a joke
Now that I graduated from Mt. Sinai's residency program in psychiatry, I wish to share my thoughts (albeit anonymously):
The program is a complete joke, largely due to the inadequate administration. Basically, the program director is this really old guy who used to run Columbia, before he was forced into retirement. For some reason, Mt. Sinai decided to pick him up despite his age. He's been at Mt. Sinai for the last 8 years, and while he is good at getting funding, the residency training...

PhD funding
Wanted to get some input. I just started a PhD program at an R1 and am having some issues w the financial support, want to see if it's normal or worth being worried about. Essentially funding was misrepresented in the interview process, there is no consistent funding, our department has very few GTA spots that are only awarded for a year or two at a time seemingly if you're lucky enough to grab one. There are some large campus labs that employ some of my department doc students as GRAs but...

F30 and government shutdown
For those of us with F30s, does a government shutdown have any impact on getting our paychecks or otherwise drawing from our funding (to travel for a conference etc)? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
