Creighton (Omaha) vs Tufts
Hi everyone. I am 50/50 with these schools currently. I would appreciate any additional input on these schools! Tufts Pros Better reputation and ranking True P/F pre-clinical + no AOA (may return in future) More research funding and opportunities Stronger match list BOSTON Greater diversity No shortage of things to do in and around the city Cons Unsure of the exact step 2 score this year, but students perform average Matches mainly in... MCW vs NJMS vs UVM
Hello everyone, I just wanted to write this up to get everyone's opinion on what school is best for me. I have only received an acceptance to MCW and am priority alt list at NJMS and still pending a decision at UVM. I would like to do ortho or optho, not sure if this factors into your advice? MCW: Pros: Pass/Fail, no ranking Top NIH Funding seems chill Cons: far from all familial support (12 hours away via car) match all seems to be in the midwest--would like to come back to East coast... Dissertation Grant Funding - Is it worth it?
3rd year PhD student here (neuropsych focused) wanting to obtain some form of funding for my dissertation. Can anyone speak into their experience of applying for an F31 and if it is worth it to be competitive for internship and post doc with protected research time? I am already in the data collection phase of my project and will still be collecting data next year, but given how drawn out the grant application process is, I'm not sure if I am too far along in my research. It would be nice to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

College enrollment crisis
So, this popped up in my email recently and I was curious to get opinions here. While this is certainly not good for academia and will likely lead to fewer PhD programs and more PsyDs due to lack of funding, I think the rest of it is rather unsurprising and due to the field being out of touch with the needs of graduates and clinicians. A lot of older folks with cushy jobs maybe panicking about how well their 401ks are funded. Maybe the focus should be on more straight-forward, available... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

IM Resident planning to apply to Dermatology after Residency
I'm considering Dermatology now that I'm in Internal Medicine. I have below-average Step 2 CK score (235 to 240) when I got into IM. If I apply for Dermatology Residency upon completion of my IM Residency (and let's say Medicare Funding is not an issue for the programs I will be applying to), how much would my Step 2 CK play a factor considering that I will have Step 3 and IM Board Scores during application? Do I have a chance to MD/PhD?
I’m an international student. I’ve applied to medical schools 1-2 years ago but withdrew my applications because I had no way of funding the education and I’m not eligible for big loans because of my status. I graduated from a UC in 2020 with 3.54 with a double major in neuroscience and anthropology. I have 3 years of work experience (1.5 years as a medical assistant and 1.5 as a clinical research assistant). I also have 3 years of bench research in undergrad that resulted in 2 journal...
