Do I have a chance to MD/PhD?
I’m an international student. I’ve applied to medical schools 1-2 years ago but withdrew my applications because I had no way of funding the education and I’m not eligible for big loans because of my status. I graduated from a UC in 2020 with 3.54 with a double major in neuroscience and anthropology. I have 3 years of work experience (1.5 years as a medical assistant and 1.5 as a clinical research assistant). I also have 3 years of bench research in undergrad that resulted in 2 journal... Do I even have a chance?
Hello everyone! So I have changed majors quite a few times over my long years in college. I have switched from Network Security to Computer Science before finding my passion in Chemistry where I had earned my first degree. I was in the process of earning my PhD in Chemistry when COVID-19 hit and layoffs occurred (funding dried up and I can't work for free). As I was stuck in a location where I could not use my degree and could not afford to move thanks to student loans, I eventually found... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

2024 nhsc
Didn't see a thread for the 2024 NHSC Application, so thought to make one. It is still pretty early, but I heard that NHSC may be vulnerable to little to no funding. Does anyone know if NHSC applications will open up this year at all? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Applying to PGY1 again on J1 visa
Hi, I was recently dismissed from my program halfway through PGY2 year in FM this month for not passing Step 3. I am retaking it in April, but I was thinking of doing SOAP for PGY1 FM spots. I'm an IMG, on J1 visa. I'm so confused about the process and was wondering if I am allowed to repeat PGY1 in Family Medicine on a J1 visa. I haven't really heard back from programs for PGY2 spots; I think it has a lot to do with my dismissal. Do we get only a fixed amount of funding per year? Have I... Tulane vs Einstein
Einstein Pros Really interesting global health opportunities that jive with my background and previous experiences, provide funding and support to do these types of programs In NYC (kind of), think I would learn so much on clinical rotations in the bronx, the faculty are heavily invested in their community (feel like this is also true with tulane tho) Commutable to Manhattan where I have friends living, maybe could escape the concrete jungle every once in a while to get to... Site Neutral Payments Axed
"Congress will not move forward with a controversial policy to equalize certain Medicare payments to hospitals and physicians’ offices in an upcoming government funding package, five lobbyists and sources following the talks told STAT. The delay is a win for hospitals, which have adamantly lobbied against the policy." (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UMass vs. Tufts
UMass Chan +In-state tuition (around $100K cheaper overall) +Significantly more NIH research funding +Great match throughout Mass +Higher ranked in medicine -Primarily primary care focused -In Worcester- biggest con Tufts +In Boston +Great match list in Boston/NE +Better "Layman" presitge -High tuition+COL -Not as much research funding as UMass If the location of these schools was the same, I would definitely pick UMass. However, I have lived in a major city for the past 5 years and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Any private equity lobby on reimbursement?
Just wondering. Since PE really likes anesthesiology practices, and we have obvious problems in anesthesiology, such as low medicaid/medicare reimbursement rates compared to other specialties, have they or big anesthesia companies ever try to lobby on increased reimbursements for medicaid/medicare? We like to say its the ASA's job on these forums, but the truth is ASA is tiny. Their funding is also tiny. Feels to me PE can benefit a lot if anesthesiology medicaid/medicare reimbursements are... Help Please! Ohio State vs Rush
Hello everyone. I am currently deciding between Ohio State and Rush. I have one more pending decision, but with a low post II A rate, I am not banking on getting accepted. I am really struggling with this decision and would love some input. OSU Pros: -Lower Tuition (would be able to classify as IS for second, third, and fourth year) -More name recognition -More research opportunities and funding -Top hospitals in oncology and cardiology (my top two specialty interests) -Seem to fit in... Does anyone have any info on University of Alaska's Clinical-Community PhD program?
Sorry if this post is a bit too niche. But I had a good research match, am from a western state (the funding is MUCH worse if you're not from a western state iirc), and it seems like a solid program (looks like back in the day it did have an attrition problem). Snagged an interview yesterday. Still, given its really small cohorts and it being Alaska, I've found next to no information about the program online. Figure maybe someone in here might have interviewed with the program or have some... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Georgetown vs Rush vs UCR
Hello everyone, after sifting through countless forums I come to you with my own dilemma. I have been blessed to receive three acceptances so far, and ask for your hopefully unbiased opinions on choosing one of these schools. I am a CA resident and hope to match back into CA in either general surgery, orthopedic surgery, or EM. I will most likely be funding my tuition fully through federal loans. While UCR is close to family and in-state tuition, I have decided to look past these benefits... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
