Too many tumor conferences!
At my current hospital (non-academic) we are now up to 8 tumor conferences, 10 total if you count placenta and M&M! What’s next…toenail conference? At some of these, they’re presenting 10+ patients. Granted, some are bi-weekly or monthly; and, it’s divided between my colleagues, but it’s been ramping up in frequency and subspecialty over the years. Funding and switching residencies
I'm a PGY-1 who wants to switch residencies. I will have to apply to the match during my PGY-2.
After this year I will have 3 years of funding remaining. If I leave my current program will I keep all three or will one be used whether I'm there or not?
Should maintaining all 3 years be a priority for me? I'm planning to apply for family medicine, but will probably be geographically restricted. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Didn't get summer funding for project
Just finished M1, shooting for competitive specialty. The way it works at my school is that you find a project with a mentor, and then apply for NIH summer funding through the school for that specific project. Was initially confused on how the funding worked, since I didn't think that the NIH would fund projects in my specialty. Also, my mentor didn't assign me my project until after the deadline for applying passed, so now I'm basically working for free this summer. Honestly I don't really...

I am a psychiatrist, I like psychiatry but miss the rest of medicine. I applied for FP and IM and due to funding reasons (along with I just passed board scores), I never matched into FP or IM.
