Carbohydrates and protein digestive traits in beef cattle grazing fertilised or mixed tropical pasture
This study was performed to investigate the nitrogen (N) and carbohydrate digestive traits of grazing heifers. The experiment was carried out at the Federal University of Lavras. The treatments were a Marandu palisadegrass (Urochloa brizantha [Syn, Brachiaria brizantha] Stapf. A. Rich. cv. Marandu) monoculture fertilised with 150 kg N/[ha ∙ year] (FP) or Marandu palisadegrass mixed pasture with forage peanut (MP). The pastures were grazed by six rumen-cannulated zebu heifers. A double cross-over design was used in four periods. Nutritive value, intake and apparent digestibility of forage, ruminal traits and kinetics and ...

Anti-SAE dermatomyositis: clinical and histologic characteristics from a monocentric Italian cohort
CONCLUSIONS: Anti-SAE DM represents a disease subset characterised by classic cutaneous involvement often associated with itching, less severe muscle involvement, but potential pulmonary involvement that should always be investigated in these patients.PMID:38488098 | DOI:10.55563/clinexprheumatol/110r0p (Source: Clinical and Experimental Rheumatology)

Molecules, Vol. 29, Pages 1310: Synthesis and Bioactive Properties of the Novel Coloured Compound Obtained via the Laccase-Mediated Transformation of 5-Aminosalicylic Acid
lkołazka Biocatalysis processes based on oxidoreductases, such as fungal laccase, are important for discovering new organic compounds with broad structures and potential applications. They include bioactive compounds, which can be obtained through laccase-mediated oxidation of organic substrates having hydroxyl and/or amino groups especially, e.g., 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA) is characterised for its potential for oxidation by a fungal laccase obtained from a Cerrena unicolor strain. The biotransformation process was optimised in terms of the buffer and co-solvent concentration, buffer pH value, and laccase activity...

Assessment and modelling of the activation-dependent shift in optimal length of the human soleus muscle in vivo
J Physiol. 2024 Mar 14. doi: 10.1113/JP285986. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPrevious in vitro and in situ studies have reported a shift in optimal muscle fibre length for force generation (L0 ) towards longer length at decreasing activation levels (also referred to as length-dependent activation), yet the relevance for in vivo human muscle contractions with a variable activation pattern remains largely unclear. By a combination of dynamometry, ultrasound and electromyography (EMG), we experimentally obtained muscle force-fascicle length curves of the human soleus at 100%, 60% and 30% EMGmax levels from 15 participants aim...
