Evaluation of the Effects of Meal Type and Acid ‐Reducing Agents on the Pharmacokinetics of Cilofexor, a Selective Nonsteroidal Farnesoid X Receptor Agonist
This study suggests that caution should be exercised when cilofexor is administered with ARAs under fed conditions; coadministration of cilofexor (100 or 30  mg) with ARAs under fasting conditions is not recommended with the current clinical trial formulations. Tenecteplase-associated orolingual angioedema: A case report and literature review
CONCLUSION: Although rare, OA is a potentially life-threatening complication of tenecteplase therapy and requires prompt pharmacological intervention to optimize patient outcomes. Currently, no single agent or treatment algorithm exists that has shown significant efficacy or safety in the setting of thrombolytic-associated OA. Until data are available for C1 esterase inhibitors in this application, these inhibitors should only be considered if there is continued symptom progression after intravenous administration of corticosteroids and antihistamines.PMID:38270186 | DOI:10.1093/ajhp/zxad334 (Source: American Journal of He...

Fabrication of pellets via extrusion-spheronisation for engineered delivery of Famotidine through specialized straws for Paediatrics
CONCLUSION: Finally, the fast-disintegrating pellets demonstrated excellent in vitro performance and relative ease of manufacturing as compared to other solid dosage forms. Furthermore, the developed specialized straw can be used as a convenient and attractive drug delivery device for pediatrics.PMID:38135035 | DOI:10.1016/j.pharma.2023.12.008 (Source: Annales Pharmaceutiques Francaises)

Evaluation of outpatient prescription patterns of COVID-19 drugs in Iran: comparison of real practice with local therapeutic recommendations
ConclusionIn this study, we showed frequent use of drugs with unproven efficacy in outpatient cases of Covid-19 mostly attributed to corticosteroids and antibiotics use. Our research highlights the discrepancy between recommendations for care and clinical practice and the need for strategy to bridge gaps in evidence-based informed decision-making. A Case Report of Venezuelan Suntiger Tarantula (Psalmopoeus Irminia) Envenomation and Review of Tarantula Exposures
J Emerg Med. 2023 Jun 10:S0736-4679(23)00320-7. doi: 10.1016/j.jemermed.2023.05.022. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBACKGROUND: Tarantula envenomations are encountered infrequently but may increase with increased exotic animal ownership. This case report presents the first documented toxicity from a Venezuelan suntiger tarantula (VST), Psalmopoeus irminia, and provides a general framework for approaching patients with tarantula exposures.CASE REPORT: A 35-year-old man presented to an emergency department 4 h after experiencing a bite from his pet VST. He developed erythema, pain, and edema to the bite site on the left thena...
