Evaluation of the effects of ethanol and mitomycin on survival of rat limbal stem cells: an in vitro study
ConclusionsOur findings suggest that ethanol and MMC reduced cell viability in cultured LSCs in a time-dependent manner. In addition, when LSCs were exposed to alcohol alone, they had a better recovery process within 5  days in comparison to when exposed to mitomycin alone or mitomycin + alcohol. Subjective visual experience  and ocular symptoms after wavefront-guided and wavefront-optimized LASIK in a prospective fellow eye study
: The purpose of this study was to compare the subjective visual experience and ocular symptoms of fellow eyes treated with wavefront-optimized (WFO-) laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) and wavefront-guided (WFG-) LASIK. (Source: American Journal of Ophthalmology)

Anterior segment inflammation and its association with dry eye parameters following myopic SMILE and FS-LASIK
CONCLUSIONS: Both SMILE and FS-LASIK induced elevated anterior chamber flare and dry eye. However, flare might not be considered a factor determining perioperative dry eye.Key MessagesDry eye disease is common after corneal refractive surgery. Signs and symptoms of dry eye disease persist longer after FS-LASIK compared with SMILE.Both FS-LASIK and SMILE transiently disrupted blood-aqueous barrier integrity, leading to anterior segment inflammation.Anterior chamber flare might not be considered a factor explaining perioperative dry eye, other biomarkers remain for future exploration.PMID:36820795 | DOI:10.1080/07853890.2023...

Impact of Topical Cyclosporine-A or Topical Chloroquine on Post-LASIK Ocular Surface Stability- A Randomized Controlled Trial
CONCLUSION: Both CsA and CHQ are useful adjuncts to standard therapy in maintaining ocular surface stability after refractive surgery. Cyclosporine A has more potent and sustained anti-inflammatory effect with less ocular irritative effects.PMID:36800492 | DOI:10.1080/02713683.2023.2182747 (Source: Current Eye Research)

Comparison of Vision Correction and Corneal Thickness at 180-Day Follow-Up After Femtosecond Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis (FS-LASIK), Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK), and Small Incision Lenticule Extraction (SMILE): A Study from a Single Center in Poland of 120 Patients with Myopia
CONCLUSIONS Our analysis demonstrated similar effectiveness of the 3 methods - PRK, FS-LASIK, and SMILE - in patients with mild and moderate myopia.PMID:36793199 | DOI:10.12659/MSM.939099 (Source: Medical Science Monitor)
