To what extent does residency program determine future employment options
I am trying to Decide between several programs on my rank list. One is well-established, whereas another one is a very new HCA program. The benefit of the new HCA program is that it gives my wife and I a much better chance of ending up in the same place during residency. My concern is Whether or not completing residency at the newer program could Limit my future employment opportunities. I don’t have to work in a prestigious hospital, but I do want to work somewhere with a high volume... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Edrp
Hi all! I'll be starting an internship at a VA for 2020-2021. I'm starting to think about postgrad employment and would like to work at a VA that would offer EDRP. Unfortunately I have a substantial amount of education debt. I have a few questions related to EDRP: 1) Can it be negotiated if it's not listed on an initial job posting for a position? 2) Would anyone be willing to share with me (on here or through private message) how much relief psychologists can typically qualify for? I did... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Eye Clinic Employment?
I was wondering how it would be looked at to work at an eye clinic? They have various jobs such as ophthalmic tech and medical scribes working with ophthalmologists and optometrists. I personally want to go into primary care or anesthesiology (but just a pre-med). (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Transitioned from a volunteer position to a paid position. Can I count the time I was a volunteer as non-clinical volunteer hours?
This was pre-COVID. I worked as a patient navigator at my university's student health center, pointing students towards physical and mental health resources, tabling, and hosting a booth at the weekly farmer's market on campus. I had to volunteer for a semester to "train" and accrued around 60-70 hours. I was hired at the end of the semester due to good performance and continued the position getting paid. Should I lump the two activities together as paid non-clinical employment or separate... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

BDS to DDS equivalence in evaluation report - critical situation
I am a 10 year member on SDN and an internationally trained dentist from India with a BDS degree. I read in one of the posts on SDN that someone did an IERF evaluation for their dental degree. Has anyone tried IERF? I need it for employment as my offer is contingent on a statement proving that BDS is equivalent to a DDS degree in the US. Has anyone used an agency that gives DDS equivalence for an Indian BDS degree? I would really appreciate your help, I’m in a critical situation. Thanks... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Now that the job market is collapsing, can we have some real discussion on the best residency programs?
As many of us MS4s are starting to make rank lists and also consider which interviews to drop vs keep, given the job market, it would be really helpful to hear some advice on what programs are the best for finding good employment in the future. If you look at basically any time the idea of a "best EM program" is discussed, these common phrases are just repeated: "go where you want to live" "does not matter at all" "In before In-N-Out" "to get hired you just need a pulse" Of... Oregon State c/o 2025
Don't think I've seen a thread for Oregon yet! Applying for the first time OOS, who else? Also I had a question maybe some past applicants can answer, when they ask for you to "Please summarize your academic history by term and provide an overall view of your employment and/or volunteer/extracurricular workload during academic periods", did you include summers as well? I've had some summers where I took courses and some where I just interned, so I'm not sure if I should include all of... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What happens if you flunk a random drug test?
We had a pharmacy student interview for a tech position and really impressed everyone. Great personality, decent resume, seemed coachable - they were the perfect fit. Pharmacy director was blown away and even had plans to keep them on as an rph once they graduated in a couple years. They accept the job and the pre-employment drug screen comes back positive. They outright deny it and somehow get a second chance (didn't know that was even an option). Well - it comes back positive, again. IDK... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
