Formulation and investigation of hydrogels containing an increased level of diclofenac sodium using risk assessment tools
Eur J Pharm Sci. 2023 Dec 10;193:106666. doi: 10.1016/j.ejps.2023.106666. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTransdermal delivery of active ingredients is a challenge for pharmaceutical technology due to their inadequate penetration properties and the barrier function of the skin. The necessity of painless, effective, topical therapy for the aging population is growing, and a variety of diclofenac sodium-containing semi-solid preparations are available to alleviate the symptoms of these ailments. Our purpose was to formulate a novel composition with higher drug content to enhance drug release and permeation, thereby providing m...

Polystyrene nanoplastics alter the ecotoxicological effects of diclofenac on freshwater microalgae Scenedesmus obliquus
Environ. Sci.: Processes Impacts, 2024, Advance Article DOI: 10.1039/D3EM00341H, PaperAbisha Christy Christudoss, Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Amitava Mukherjee Diclofenac and polystyrene nanoplastics are toxic to algal cells at higher doses. When combined, they have a surprising hormesis effect on toxicity and show significant synergistic effects in higher-dose combinations. Influence of Endogenous Substances on Site-II to Site-I Displacement of Diclofenac Bound to Albumin in the Aqueous Humor of Patients with Cataract
Biol Pharm Bull. 2023 Dec 7. doi: 10.1248/bpb.b23-00301. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDiclofenac instillation is useful in preventing intraoperative miosis and macular edema caused by postoperative inflammation in cataract surgery; however, optimum efficacy is not attained when the instilled diclofenac strongly binds to albumin in patients' aqueous humor. Therefore, a method that inhibits diclofenac binding and increases the concentration of its free fraction is needed. We conducted a basic study regarding the effects of inhibitors on the binding of instilled diclofenac to albumin and endogenous substances in aqueous humo...

Molecules, Vol. 28, Pages 7979: Sb-Doped Cerium Molybdate: An Emerging Material as Dielectric and Photocatalyst for the Removal of Diclofenac Potassium from Aqueous Media
Mujeeb Khan This work reports the influence of antimony substitution in a cerium molybdate lattice for improved dielectric and photocatalytic properties. For this purpose, a series of Ce2−xSbx(MoO4)3 (x = 0.00, 0.01, 0.03, 0.05, 0.07, and 0.09) were synthesized through a co-precipitation route. The as-synthesized materials were characterized for their optical properties, functional groups, chemical oxidation states, structural phases, surface properties, and dielectric characteristics using UV–Vis spectroscopy (UV–Vis), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and Raman spectroscopi...

A randomized controlled trial of rectal versus intramuscular diclofenac for post-operative analgesia after open myomectomy
CONCLUSION: Rectal Diclofenac with intramuscular Pentazocine is significantly associated with better effectiveness in pain reduction and maternal satisfaction when compared with intramuscular Diclofenac and intramuscular Pentazocine following open-myomectomy. While epigastric discomfort was the commonest side-effect in rectal-group, drowsiness was commoner in intramuscular-group.TRIAL REGISTRATION: Pan-African-clinical-trial-registry (PACTR); PACTR202206556144219.PMID:38043222 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejogrb.2023.11.029 (Source: Reproductive Biology)

Coupled adsorption-photocatalysis process for the removal of diclofenac using magnetite/reduced graphene oxide nanocomposite
Chemosphere. 2023 Nov 30:140788. doi: 10.1016/j.chemosphere.2023.140788. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDiclofenac (DCF) is frequently detected in water bodies (ng/L to g/L) as it is not completely removed by conventional wastewater treatment plants. Adsorption and photocatalysis have been studied as promising methods for treating DCF; however, both processes have limitations. Thus, in this study, the removal efficiency of DCF is evaluated using a magnetite/reduced graphene oxide (Fe3O4/RGO) nanocomposite via a coupled adsorption-catalysis process. The Fe3O4/RGO nanocomposite was successfully synthesized using a microwave-a...
