Preparing Nurse Practitioner Graduates for the Transition to Practice
CONCLUSION: Current educational programs lack the time to thoroughly address NP graduates' learning needs regarding transition to practice. A partnership between faculties and a state professional organization is an innovative approach to meet students' educational desires. Delivery of a virtual conference during the pandemic proved to be cost effective. Body mass index influence on short-term perioperative results in robotic-assisted laparoscopic partial nephrectomy: a comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis
The objective of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the perioperative outcomes of robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) in obese and non-obese patients. Through March 2024, we executed an exhaustive search in internationally acclaimed databases such as PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science, limiting our scope to publications in English. We discarded review articles, protocols lacking empirical data, conference abstracts, and materials not pertinent to our research. Our analytical framework utilized the Cochran –Mantel–Haenszel method alongside a random-effects model for evaluating dichotomous variables’ ...

Effect of transcranial direct current stimulation combined with transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation on poststroke cognitive impairment: a study protocol for a randomised controlled trial
This study protocol aims to investigate the effect and neural mechanism of the combination of tDCS and taVNS on cognitive function in patients who had a stroke. Methods and analysis In this single-centre, prospective, parallel, randomised controlled trial, a total of 66 patients with poststroke cognitive impairment will be recruited and randomly assigned (1:1:1) to the tDCS group, the taVNS group and the combination of tDCS and taVNS group. Each group will receive 30 min of treatment daily, five times weekly for 3 weeks. Primary clinical outcome is the Montreal Cognitive Assessment. Secondary clinical outcomes include the...

Understanding lived experiences and perceptions of resilience in black and South Asian Muslim children living in East London: a qualitative study protocol
Introduction It is important to promote resilience in preadolescence; however, there is limited research on children’s understandings and experiences of resilience. Quantitative approaches may not capture dynamic and context-specific aspects of resilience. Resilience research has historically focused on white, middle-class Western adults and adolescents, creating an evidence gap regarding diverse experiences of resilience in middle childhood which could inform interventions. East London’s Muslim community represents a diverse, growing population. Despite being disproportionately affected by deprivation and raci...

Training in Neonatal Neurocritical Care: A Case-Based Interdisciplinary Approach
Interdisciplinary fetal-neonatal neurology (FNN) training strengthens neonatal neurocritical care (NNCC) clinical decisions. Neonatal neurological phenotypes require immediate followed by sustained neuroprotective care path choices through discharge. Serial assessments during neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) rounds are supplemented by family conferences and didactic interactions. These encounters collectively contribute to optimal interventions yielding more accurate outcome predictions. Maternal-placental-fetal (MPF) triad disease pathways influence postnatal medical complications which potentially reduce effective int...

Complications and Surgeon Health: Resources for individuals and institutions
This article underscores the importance of such educational initiatives in the mid-career phase, proposing strategies to promote surgeon health, and psychological safety. It advocates for utilizing Morbidity and Mortality conferences as platforms for peer support, learning from 'near miss' events, and encourages at least annual department-wide discussions to raise awareness and normalize the emotional challenges faced by surgeons. Furthermore, it highlights the role of formal peer support programs, acceptance and commitment therapy, and resilience training as vital tools for promoting surgeon well-being. Resources from var...
