Does switching from coated colchicine to compressed colchicine improves treatment response in patients with familial Mediterranean fever?
CONCLUSIONS: Compressed colchicine was shown to be a useful treatment option before initiating biological agents in non-responders to coated colchicine, especially those with side effects.PMID:37927190 | PMC:PMC10668039 | DOI:10.3325/cmj.2023.64.354 (Source: Croatian Medical Journal)

Inflammatory comorbidities ın the largest pediatric Familial Mediterranean fever cohort: a multicenter retrospective study of Pediatric Rheumatology Academy (PeRA)-Research Group (RG)
ConclusionTo the best of our knowledge, this is the largest pediatric cohort reviewed to date. FMF patients may have different clinical profiles and colchicine responses if they have with concomitant inflammatory diseases.Key points• FMF is associated with some inflammatory comorbidities diseases.• To the best of our knowledge, this is the largest cohort evlauated pediatric FMF associated inflammatory comorbidities diseases reviewed to date (Source: Clinical Rheumatology)

Endovascular Interventional Procedure is a Significant Risk Factor of Postsurgical Gout: A Retrospective Cohort Study
ConclusionsPatients with a history of gout should be more alert to recurrence gout flares after endovascular interventional procedures. Adequate presurgical control of serum uric acid levels and/or prophylactic treatment with colchicine will help prevent gout flares during the postsurgical period. (Source: Rheumatology and Therapy)

Systemic non-steroidal immunomodulators for oral lichen planus treatment —a scoping review
ConclusionAmong SNSI therapeutic options, methotrexate, and dapsone showed promising efficacy and safety. However, large-scale randomized clinical trials are still needed.Clinical relevanceSNSI have been used in the treatment of recalcitrant OLP; however, so far, it is not clear which are the best options. This scoping review highlights the potential use of methotrexate and dapsone. (Source: Clinical Oral Investigations)

French protocol for the diagnosis and management of familial Mediterranean fever
Rev Med Interne. 2023 Oct 28:S0248-8663(23)01203-1. doi: 10.1016/j.revmed.2023.10.441. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFamilial Mediterranean fever is the most common monogenic auto-inflammatory disease in the world. It mainly affects people originating from the Mediterranean region. The mutated gene is MEFV, which codes for pyrin. Transmission is autosomal recessive. Patients present with recurrent attacks of fever since childhood associated with abdominal and/or thoracic pain lasting an average of 2-3days and a biological inflammatory syndrome. Other symptoms include arthralgia or arthritis in large joints such as the knee...
