Evaluation of the antimicrobial activity of Eucalyptus radiata essential oil against Escherichia coli strains isolated from meat products
Braz J Biol. 2024 Mar 4;84:e281361. doi: 10.1590/1519-6984.281361. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTThe present study sought to evaluate the antimicrobial and anti-adherent potential of Eucalyptus radiata essential oil against food-borne strains of Escherichia coli. The study was performed using the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC). In addition, the disk diffusion technique was used to evaluate the association of Eucalyptus radiata essential oil with synthetic antimicrobials. The Minimum Inhibitory Adherence Concentration (MIC) was also performed. The results revealed that E. radi...

Emergence and clonal expansion of Aeromonas hydrophila ST1172 that simultaneously produces MOX-13 and OXA-724
ConclusionsOur study validated the transmission of a novel carbapenem-resistantA. hydrophila sequence type (ST1172) in patients that underwent spine surgery. Control measures should be developed to prevent dissemination ofA. hydrophila in the hospital setting. (Source: Antimicrobial Resistance and Infection Control)

Antibiotic Treatment in Complicated Appendicitis: Can It Be Optimized?
CONCLUSIONS: Generalized peritonitis and CRP > 20 gr/L were highly correlated with changing the antibiotic regimen to TP. For such patients, initial treatment with TP may result in clinical improvement and shorter hospitalization.PMID:38420639 (Source: The Israel Medical Association Journal)
