Network analysis of smoking-related sleep characteristics in Chinese adults
This study aimed to explore the associations between smoking status/intensity and multiple sleep characteristics and to identify the potential core domain of smoking-related sleep using network analysis. Data were obtained from a survey of cancer-related risk factors among Chinese adults. Logistic regression models were used to quantify the associations between sleep characteristics and smoking status/intensity. Network analyses were employed to identify the core sleep characteristics. A total of 5,228 participants with a median age of 44 years old were included in the study. Current smoking was significantly positively as...

Investigation of cellular communication and signaling pathways in tumor microenvironment for high TP53-expressing osteosarcoma cells through single-cell RNA sequencing
AbstractOsteosarcoma (OS) stands as the most prevalent primary bone cancer in children and adolescents, and its limited treatment options often result in unsatisfactory outcomes, particularly for metastatic cases. The tumor microenvironment (TME) has been recognized as a crucial determinant in OS progression. However, the intercellular dynamics between high TP53-expressing OS cells and neighboring cell types within the TME are yet to be thoroughly understood. In our study, we harnessed the single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) technology in combination with the computational tool –Cellchat, aiming to elucidate the inter...

A phase 1/2 study of pepinemab in children, adolescents, or young adults with recurrent or refractory solid tumors: A children's oncology group consortium report (ADVL1614)
CONCLUSIONS: Pepinemab (20 mg/kg) is safe, well tolerated and resulted in adequate and sustained target saturation in pediatric patients. Encouraging disease control in two patients with osteosarcoma warrants further investigation with novel combination strategies to modulate the tumor microenvironment and antitumor immune response.CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRY: This trial is registered as NCT03320330 at Clinicaltrials.gov.DISCLAIMER: The content is solely the responsibility of the authors and does not necessarily represent the official views of the National Institutes of Health.PMID:38520670 | DOI:10.1002/pbc.30938 (Source: Cancer Control)

Physical function patient ‐reported outcomes among adolescent and young adult cancer survivors: A systematic review
ConclusionsThe results overwhelmingly demonstrate that AYAs post a cancer diagnosis have worse health-related quality of life from a physical function perspective than their cancer-free peers, providing a compelling argument for the need to address this issue. All but one of the studies were cross-sectional, which highlights the need for further assessment of this group longitudinally throughout their cancer journey. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Association between different regional lymph node metastases of papillary thyroid carcinoma in adolescents and young adults
Oncol Lett. 2024 Mar 11;27(5):204. doi: 10.3892/ol.2024.14337. eCollection 2024 May.ABSTRACTAdolescents and young adults (AYA) describe the demographic aged between 15-39 years diagnosed with cancer. This group is particularly at risk of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) with a greater severity compared with other ages. Through comparative design, the present study aimed to quantify central lymph node metastasis (CLNM) risk in AYAs. A total of 463 AYA patients with PTC and 489 patients >39 years old with PTC from Ningbo Medical Center Lihuili Hospital (Ningbo, China) were enrolled. Details such as demographic data, seru...
